Over Christmas and New Year on Crete - you can still be in Germany on Christmas Eve or already on Crete.
It is quiet and cozy - both Christmas and New Year's Eve. In the towns (Rethymnon 25km) there are lots of people in the cafes and tavernas, usually sitting outside. The Christmas decorations are wonderfully beautiful.

Plakias on the south coast of Crete is very cozy in December. There is not much choice of tavernas. A few cafes and at least 2 tavernas are usually open. Supermarkets are open. Accommodation is available. As always, I can help with this.

Temperatures on Crete in December are often above 20 degrees. Beach days are possible and people often go swimming in the sea even in December. The water is still warm from the summer. It is orange season and the trees are full of beautiful fruit. The roses are also in bloom.
Sunset is after 5 p.m., about an hour later than in Germany. And the sun rises earlier than in Germany. The evenings are mild. Sometimes it rains. But the sun usually comes out again quickly.

SOLUTION-ORIENTED PAINTING LOM with Katina Kalpakidou:
Working specifically on a concern by painting and moving towards a solution. Here we will take additional time before starting to paint to discuss the issue and the painting tasks.

This is painting therapy work and self-awareness.

Plakias is right by the sea, with a large selection of small accommodations, several hotels, tavernas, stores, cafes and bars. And yet it is still a cozy little village.
In December there is only a small selection of tavernas.
Shared accommodation can be arranged on request.
You can also look for accommodation independently.
The studio is located 4-5 km above Plakias and is easy to reach by cab (approx. 2 euros per trip/person) or rental car. Usually a car pool is formed.
Rental cars cost only about 10€/day fully insured at the time (see Check24)

A snack is available during the break.

Many accommodations have fully equipped kitchens for self-catering.
It is also possible to enjoy meals in the taverns, which are open in winter.

We start at 1 p.m. and paint for 4.5 hours a day plus an hour break in between.
Even though the painting takes place together in a small group, I work with each painter individually. At the end of each painting session there is an exchange of experiences so that everyone can share in the processes of the other painters without commenting on them.

During the breaks, there are lovely spots on the large terrace with a sea view and on the grounds. And you can sit by the stove - depending on the weather.

The 4th day is free so that you have time to explore the area, go on excursions, spend time on the beach or just laze around.

You organize your journey yourself. We are happy to help. The airports of Heraklion and Chania are served by many European airports. Plakias is the same distance - approx. 100 km - from both Cretan airports and can be reached by bus.
We also recommend booking a rental car directly from the airport - often for just 10 euros per day in December.
