Day 1 - A relaxed arrival
After arriving at Bucharest Airport, you will travel by air-conditioned car to your accommodation, where your tour guide will welcome you. After freshening up, you will visit the Ceaușescu Villa and gain an insight into how opulently the former father of the country lived. Afterwards, you will enjoy typical Romanian cuisine over dinner and discuss the program for the next few days.
Day 2 - Culture and city life
Bucharest has a lot to offer in terms of photography. You will visit Ceausescu's Palace, the heaviest building in the world and the third largest government building in the world. In the afternoon, you will have plenty of time to explore the streets and alleyways of Bucharest at your own pace and look for motifs. In the evening, another culinary highlight awaits you in one of the local restaurants.
Day 3 - Castles and volcanoes
Early in the morning, you will visit the mud volcanoes of Berces. Here you will find unique structures and formations that are ideal for black and white motifs. You'll need to react quickly to catch one of the rising gas bubbles. In the afternoon, you will stroll through the impressive Peleș Castle, an originally furnished former royal castle from the 19th century, which will leave you speechless.
Day 4 - The mountains
Romania is not only characterized by its long cultural history and the partly still very traditional life of the people in the countryside, Romania is also characterized by the Carpathians, an impressive mountain range. On this day, you will discover the landscape on foot and be enchanted by the charm of the Carpathians.
Day 5 - Brasov and the Transylvanian village
Your journey takes you deeper into Transylvania to one of the German strongholds, Kronstadt (Brașov). Let yourself drift and discover the countless small alleyways.
Your journey takes you further into the countryside to a small Transylvanian village. Here, Romanian home cooking awaits you at Mama Gerda's, one of the long-established Transylvanian Saxons. In the evening, you will experience the herd drive as the shepherd drives the cattle back to the village.
Day 6 - Shepherds and charcoal burners
You get up in the dark, as the coachman is waiting for you with the horse-drawn carriage. You have an hour's drive ahead of you to reach the shepherds in the mountains at sunrise. There you will not only find impressive scenery, but also an original shepherd's breakfast.
After an afternoon nap and a fortifying soup, you make your way to the charcoal burners and their steaming kilns. Photograph the charcoal burners doing one of the most physically demanding jobs and find out more about their work.
Day 7 - Village life and the Roma
Today it's time to sleep in and enjoy the tranquillity of the village. Explore the life and hustle and bustle on your own, visit the traditional bakery or be impressed by the charm of the fortified church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can also visit the village's blacksmith and photograph him at work.
The Roma are not very popular in Romania, but they are part of the country's defining image. Visit the Roma and see the smiling faces of the children, who are always happy to be photographed and to receive small souvenirs. Make children's hearts beat faster. Normally, strangers are not allowed in, but with a local guide we are granted insights into a world that is almost unimaginable for us.
Day 8 - Departure
La Revedere is Romanian and means goodbye. After breakfast you will be taken safely back to the airport and you can sort through your impressions and photos over the next few weeks.
