Even the drive through the Jordanian highlands shows you the first changes in the landscape. Once you arrive in Wadi Rum, you enter another world: red sand dunes, mighty rock formations, and a tranquility that you can almost hear. You will be warmly welcomed by Bedouins and introduced to life in the camp – your home for the next few days. In the afternoon, you will take your first easy hike through the surrounding countryside. Here, you will quickly feel how the desert slows you down: the sand under your feet, the warm wind, the golden light.
In the evening, a typical Bedouin meal cooked over an open fire—often in an earth oven—awaits you, accompanied by sweet tea, exciting stories, and a breathtaking starry sky like you may have never seen before. Contents & highlights of the day: Drive from Amman to Wadi Rum (approx. 4–5 hours)

After breakfast, you will set off on a full-day jeep tour through the protected area of the desert – the Wadi Rum Protected Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With an experienced Bedouin guide, you will drive deep into the vastness of the desert. You will stop at special places to explore the landscape on foot: natural rock bridges, narrow gorges with ancient rock carvings, hidden viewpoints, and, of course, the famous red sand dunes. In between, there will be a leisurely lunch break in the silence – often the Bedouins even prepare tea and a simple, warm meal in the middle of nowhere.
The day is active but not overwhelming – there is always time to marvel, take photos, sit in the sand, or simply look around. You will notice how the desert slows you down and expands your inner self. In the evening, you return to camp, where a freshly prepared dinner awaits you. Afterwards: campfire, tea, starry sky – and perhaps a few thoughts that sort themselves out all by themselves. Even the first glimpse of the red shimmering rock facades between narrow gorges is breathtaking. Petra is huge – far more than just the famous Treasury (Al Khazneh). A delicious dinner awaits you at our desert camp. Day 5: Day 5 – Magical paths: Hiking day on the Wadi Rum Trail Today, another unforgettable day in the desert awaits you – all in the name of the Wadi Rum Trail, a network of impressive hiking routes through the protected nature of the valley.
Depending on the size of the group, energy levels, and desire for challenge, there are several hiking options available. Together with the guides, you will choose the right trail in the morning – each route has its own unique charm: Umm Ashrin: One of the classic routes with sweeping views over the red plain Al Barrah: A varied hike between narrow gorges and open plateaus
Umm Dami: The highest point in Jordan – a challenging but rewarding climb with views as far as Saudi Arabia ...and other hidden paths that lead deep into the landscape. The hikes usually last between 4 and 6 hours and are designed to allow enough time for breaks, mindful walking, and pausing to reflect.
At lunchtime, you will enjoy a simple, freshly prepared meal in the middle of the desert – under a shady rock ledge or with a view of the vastness. In the afternoon, return to camp, time to rest, shower, or simply sit in the sand and reflect on the day. In the evening, a warm meal by the fire and a peaceful end to the day under the starry sky await you. The steady rocking, the quiet patter of the animals' feet in the sand and the vastness that opens up around you have an almost meditative effect. In the afternoon, you continue – another three hours on foot and on camelback, accompanied by the light of the setting sun. It is a day of connection – with yourself, the animal, and the rhythm of nature. No noise, no rush, just the path and the feeling of being part of it.
