On this trip, you will be amazed by centuries-old cultural treasures, fascinating landscapes and the natural life of the Berber people in the Anti-Atlas. The serenity, warmth and mischievousness of the people are omnipresent. Enjoying and letting the day come to you is easy in this environment.
The route will inspire you with its diversity. You will stay in fantastic and comfortable accommodation and where this is not available, you will spend the night in simple, well-kept hostels run by locals. In both cases, you will be impressed by the loving hospitality of the Moroccans. We will take you by car to remote regions and villages where you can immerse yourself in nature on short walks. Alternatively, you will stroll through lively markets and experience the hustle and bustle of the cities.
After your arrival in Agadir, the journey continues in two stages to the foothills of the Siroua Mountains in the Anti-Atlas. A visit to various markets provides a good introduction to Berber culture. The journey continues to the remote villages of the carpet trade. You will live with the locals for two days. The Berber women will show you how they make their fibrous wonders. It starts with spinning and dyeing wool and continues with the harmonious mixing of materials, knotting, embroidering, knotting and finally washing the carpets. If you feel like it, try it yourself. Salomé Bäumlin will tell you what the different patterns are all about and how you can recognize the tribal affiliation in them.
After two eventful days, it's time to say goodbye to the Berber women. We drive on lonely country roads through the Siroua to Ait Ben Haddou, the world-famous castle complex. In the afternoon, a dreamlike accommodation in a quiet location away from the tourist crowds awaits you. You will have time to reflect on your new impressions in the gardens or on a walk. The next day, we take the route of the former salt caravans over the highest pass in Morocco (Tichka Pass) and drive to Marrakech. The drive along the road from Telouet is one of the most beautiful country roads in the whole country. The overwhelming play of colors of the rocks and the caves are a cultural and natural spectacle at the same time. Once you arrive in Marrakech, the pearl of the Orient, you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the souks, gardens and palaces or visit a hammam.
