ADHD UNMASKED: 1-on-1 Retreat in Nature—for Women with Late-Onset ADHD

Summary

From the outside, your life probably doesn’t look all that bad. Education, a job, relationships, responsibilities—a lot of things are working out, and it might even seem perfect, but what nobody sees is how much energy all of this is draining from you.

Because you’ve learned to adapt, to pull yourself together, to make lists, to double-check your preparations, to work three times as hard, and, when in doubt, to stay up half the night just to get through your daily life as inconspicuously as possible and not let anyone see your inner chaos.
Maybe for years you thought of yourself as chaotic, too sensitive, too emotional, too much and yet never enough, somehow different from the others.

In your attempt to be like everyone else, you’ve adapted to situations faster than a chameleon can change its color, smiling while inside it had all been too much for you long ago.
Just don’t show any weakness—but eventually, for most people, there comes a point where the house of cards collapses from exhaustion—game over.

Your strategies no longer work reliably. You can no longer mask your exhaustion, and after years of self-optimization, you desperately ask yourself what is actually wrong with you.
And then, at some point, the suspicion arises that it might be ADHD, and suddenly decades of your life make a frightening amount of sense.
For many women, this is initially a huge relief; finally, there’s an explanation for things that have felt like personal failures for years.

And eventually the question arises: yes… so what now?
That’s exactly what this retreat is about.

✦ What to expect from me

Honestly, most women who come to me have spent a large part of their lives trying to fix themselves, usually at a pretty high cost.
That’s why this retreat is definitely not another attempt to optimize you, nor is it a crash course on how to get your ADHD under control.

Instead, for three days, I’ll create a clear, one-on-one space for you in the midst of peaceful nature, where you can stop working against yourself and instead start taking yourself seriously.
A space where you don’t have to “function,” don’t have to prove anything to anyone, and don’t have to constantly check whether you’re doing too much or too little.

We work at your pace and in an ADHD-friendly way—sometimes we talk, sometimes we walk through nature, sometimes it’s quiet, sometimes creative, sometimes we laugh, and sometimes it’s just honest.
Instead of continuing to play a game that was never yours, we’ll explore together the personal rules of the game for your life. We simply turn the tables and ask ourselves: what does a life look like that fits YOU?

Most people don’t go home with a ready-made solution.
But with something far more valuable: greater connection to themselves and the realization that they no longer want to make themselves smaller. With a clear vision of how your own life can be shaped without feeling overwhelmed.
With greater clarity about your own boundaries and needs, and about what truly does you good.
Without any guilt, but with more self-acceptance and a growing permission to be exactly who you are.

✦ If you feel that this retreat could be a turning point for you
If you’ve recognized yourself more than once while reading this, and you want to create a life that suits you, please feel free to reach out.
We’ll then speak on the phone and see together if my 1:1 retreat is the right next step for you right now.
I work with only a small number of women and men per season (June through October) because genuine support requires time, presence, and attention.

Note: You do not need an ADHD diagnosis for this retreat. I do not make diagnoses, nor do I provide therapy. This retreat is not a substitute for medical or psychotherapeutic treatment; rather, it is a psychoeducational and guided space for self-exploration.

✦ How I Work
I’m Sabine, a psychological counselor and the woman behind the “green couch.”
With me, you’ll find time, space, plenty of nature, and support that honestly addresses what’s going on inside you when you’re going through a lot.
I am familiar with neurodiversity and I work in a way that is gentle on the nervous system. That means: I don’t take a heavy-handed approach, but of course I also don’t just have a cozy coffee party with you where I spend three days telling you how difficult everything is, only to then wave you home again with a friendly smile.
Yes, sometimes a good conversation by the campfire is needed, and I might even send you out into nature on your own, but above all, I’ll work with you to take an honest look at the issues and stories you bring with you—the ones you’ve perhaps been telling yourself about yourself for years.
During these days with me, I’ll personally guide you through your process, with heart and humor—not following a rigid formula, but tailored to what you need right now.
Many experience this time with me as a safe haven from everyday life: finally not having to “function,” not having to achieve anything, not having to prove anything to anyone. Simply being cared for for a few days, taking a deep breath, and reconnecting with yourself.
I consciously work with only a few women and men per season. Not to make it sound exclusive, but because genuine support requires time, presence, and attention.
My foundation is built on training in life and social counseling, couples and sex therapy, bodywork, human energetics, shamanism, and nature and wilderness education. Over the years, this has evolved into my own style: psychologically grounded, nature-based, and—if desired—with a touch of magic.

✦ The Location
My retreat is located in the Murtal valley in Styria, nestled between mountains, forests, and water. A place to breathe deeply, without TV or radio noise, without the constant clamour that pulls you into the world while you’re actually trying to find yourself.
Instead, nature’s cinema with the murmur of a stream and a chorus of birds. No Wi-Fi, but a full connection to nature and to yourself.
Nature is more than just a backdrop here. It is part of the process, sometimes soothing, sometimes reflective, and sometimes surprisingly clear. Because often, a moment in the forest offers more clarity than three months of brooding alone at home.

✦ What your days with me will look like
Your retreat follows a clear structure of arrival, deepening, and integration, but it’s not meticulously timed. We work with what arises and what’s truly important right now.

Day 1 – Arrival
Arrival starting at 3:00 PM, and you’re welcome to settle in first.
Afterward, we’ll get to know each other during a Walk & Talk in nature and explore together the topic that brought you here.
The evening is intentionally quiet: settling in, unwinding, a cozy dinner, stargazing.

Day 2 – Deepening
The second day is the core of your retreat.
After breakfast, we create space for your topic—whatever arises and needs attention. Depending on the process, we work through conversation, in nature, through movement, creatively, or via physical awareness.
In between, there are frequent breaks to process, reflect, and rest.
The evening winds down peacefully over dinner.

Day 3 – Integration
After breakfast, we take time to bring together what we’ve experienced.
What has emerged, what has become clearer, and what aspects of this should accompany you back into your daily life.
The goal is not to solve everything or to be “finished” here, but to return home with greater clarity and a deeper connection to yourself.
Your retreat ends around 10:00 a.m.
