View all pictures

Summary

Batik is a technique used to dye fabrics and other objects such as vases by covering the areas that should not receive color with wax or other waterproof materials such as clay, resin, vegetable pastes or starch.

As part of our batik course, you will have the opportunity to design and create individual items that will be yours (such as bags, pants or jackets).

Our batik courses in Florence are open to everyone. No special prerequisites are required and registration for our Italian courses is not necessary. Lessons can be held in Italian and English.
The price is based on 3 individual lessons of 3 hours per lesson.
The cost of the material varies depending on the technique and type of work. For this reason they are not included in the course price and must be paid directly to the teacher
If you come with your family/friends, you can write us to have a personalized offer.
On request, batik can be organized for more or less days.

sequence

The program of the batik course (which can of course be adapted individually for each student) generally comprises the following phases:
The drawing is transferred to the fabric with a special fabric pen or a retractable felt-tip pen. The pattern is attached under the fabric to outline the contours.
The fabric is attached to the frame.
The reserve is applied to the fabric, strictly according to the pattern.
Dyes are applied with a brush or cotton sponge, the application methods are the same in both cases.
Wait for the painting to dry.
