Discover Chinese calligraphy with calligraphy master Wang Ning!
This weekend workshop offers you an introduction to the world of Chinese characters.
Calligraphy in China has been an integral part of Chinese art for thousands of years due to the aesthetic design of the characters. Calligraphy also plays an important role in the cultural history of other countries, such as Japan and Korea.
Brush, paper, ink, and inkstone are referred to as the “four treasures of the study.”
Practicing calligraphy brings body and mind into harmony, as it fosters discipline, patience, and perseverance.
It all begins with a single stroke
The workshop begins on Friday afternoon with an introductory lecture on the history and development of Chinese characters and calligraphy. The technique of brushstrokes and the significance of the “four treasures of the study” will be demonstrated and explained. Over the following days, participants will learn how to use the “four treasures of the study” and perhaps even come to love them.
A calligraphy set with brushes can be purchased on-site for €30.
