Summary

You feel the consistency of the clay, just play around and learn how the material reacts. Using various hand-building techniques such as the slab technique, build-up technique etc., your ideas come to life and slowly take shape. Isabel from Studio chijchij will advise you and be at your side. As soon as your piece is ready, it will be given its finishing touches in the studio and decorated with underglaze paint (as with ceramic painting): Even clay that is still wet can be painted in this way before it dries and goes into the kiln for bisque firing. After the first firing, Isabel takes over the next step and applies a transparent glaze for you. Once it has dried again, it goes into the high-temperature glaze firing - up to eight individual unique pieces are created from high-quality materials from Karl Jäger, Mayco or Botz, using a wide variety of tools at your disposal. And if you prefer to let yourself drift, that's just as welcome: Just sit back, enjoy the moment and see where the creative flow takes you.

The pieces are ready for collection after approx. 4 - 5 weeks. You have time to collect your work within 4 weeks of receiving the email (for completion) during our opening hours. Pieces that are not collected will not be stored. For an extra charge and at your own risk, we can also send the works by post, the fee must be paid before departure.

There is also a deliberate lunch break, a time when nothing happens and you can relax for yourself. Whether you want to sit on the sun terrace with a good book, take an afternoon nap is the best way to relax or enjoy the nature around us.

Accommodation

As we have very different accommodation options, accommodation is not included in the retreat price, so you can decide whether you want to come with a tent or camper or prefer to use one of our accommodations, on our website you will find all the options. Depending on your budget and preferences. We have reserved some accommodation for our participants, please contact us. Depending on availability, it is of course also possible to arrive earlier or stay longer at the Waldbad and supplement the retreat with a beautiful hike, a trip to Lake Constance or a day at the lake.

Water and tea, fresh fruit and small snacks are available during the course times. Our snack station JÂGER+KLAUBER will take care of a light lunch and dinner with homemade and regional specialties.

Depending on the majority of course participants, we cook vegetarian meals or offer a vegetarian option, so please let us know in advance what we can plan for you. If you have any other intolerances or dietary requirements, please let us know BEFORE booking so that we can see together whether we can offer you options. The Allgäu is simply the land of delicious gluten and lactose products ;)

If you cancel up to 40 days before arrival, you will receive a 50% refund of the booking price.

STUDIO CHIJCHIJ
Studio chijchij is Isabel's ceramics studio, where analogy meets aesthetics. As a former graphic designer, she has been working with clay for almost 20 years and produces unique pieces and small series. She has already offered her workshops in Stuttgart, and this retreat is now the premiere at Waldbad.

THE WALDBAD
The Waldbad is a charming little place, a retreat and adventure playground far away from everyday life. A place where locals, vacationers and camping guests alike have a good time. Here you will find inspiration, grounding and contentment. Recharge your batteries, experience adventure, feel alive, exchange ideas and enjoy your time - whether for a few hours, a week or longer. The Waldbad consists of the Camp (camping + vacation accommodation), Feel (events, outdoor pool, good times), Eat (JÂGER+KLAUBER snack station).

YOUR HOSTS
Hi, we are Isabel, Christoph & Aaron. Growing up in the Unterallgäu, it was always clear to us that we wanted to return home after our time in southern Germany's big cities. After many years of searching, we found our new home: the Waldbad Isny. Now we are looking forward to hosting the first retreat in the fall and thus expanding the Waldbad's spectrum.
