Our courses are led by Lesley and Matthew of Creative Glass Getaways, specialists in glass craft. Over six mornings - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday - you’ll learn three different techniques, traditional leaded stained glass, copperfoil (Tiffany) stained glass and glass-on-glass mosaics.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or already have experience, you’ll be guided through three rewarding projects to take home with you.
Classes run from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. All glass, materials and equipment are provided and the setting is relaxed, informal and inclusive.
Leaded stained glass has been around for centuries, adding colour and character to everything from grand cathedrals to cosy cottages. It’s a craft steeped in history, combining precision with creativity, and there’s nothing quite like seeing sunlight pour through something you’ve made with your own hands.
Copper foil technique was made famous in the late 19th century by Louis Comfort Tiffany (yes – that Tiffany), who used it to create his iconic stained glass lamps. Unlike the chunkier leaded method, copper foil made it possible to craft more intricate designs , 3 dimensional objects and curved forms – bringing a delicate, jewel-like quality to the work. It revolutionised decorative glass and remains a favourite among modern makers for its versatility and precision.
If you're drawn to colour, pattern, and a touch of sparkle, you’ll absolutely love our glass-on-glass mosaics workshop – a wonderfully creative and (fair warning!) highly addictive craft. Unlike traditional, chunkier tile mosaics, glass-on-glass mosaics are more delicate, allowing light to shine through and bringing your design to life in a luminous, almost stained-glass-like way
