In this fasting and walking course with yoga, you will not only relax physically, but also mentally and emotionally. Yoga and various forms of fasting or vegan-based diets are ideal combinations for finding specific solutions to the demands of everyday life, detoxifying and regenerating the body. Hiking and other physical activities round off the program.

Make sure you feel better! Fasting or eating only alkaline foods and still getting plenty of exercise - is that possible? Isn't that pretty crazy?cNot at all - quite the opposite! It's pretty crazy to spend the whole week sitting in the office and/or in front of the TV, not moving and still eating! At least that's how our ancestors would have seen it. In the long term, our bodies are much better adapted to exercise and little food than vice versa.

Yoga focuses on the person as a whole and consists of physical and breathing exercises as well as meditation. We practise basic yoga for relaxation and strengthening, which is suitable for all levels and tailored to fasting regeneration. We introduce the meditation techniques with Heart Chakra Meditation, a combination of movement to meditative music followed by a resting phase.

Massage and sauna
Our massage team provides soothing massages in the monastery with individual treatments according to your wishes and needs. Directly below the monastery hill is a swimming pool with sauna area, the Wiedtalbad.

On the edge of the Westerwald, barely an hour's drive from the vibrant Rhine-Main (Frankfurt) and Rhine-Ruhr (Cologne) centers, the Rosa Flesch Conference Center offers an exceptional setting for the fasting seminar. High above the Wiedtal valley, against a monastic backdrop, this house breathes Franciscan spirit. Here you can recharge your batteries to meet the demands of everyday life. The village of Waldbreitbach offers various leisure activities and, with its idyllic location in the Wiedtal valley, is known as a place for excursions and as a Christmas destination because of its nativity scene exhibition and Advent illuminations.

Catering

The detox method according to Dr. Buchinger is a modified fast in which solid food is avoided. The body is completely switched to a fasting metabolism and feeds almost exclusively on stored reserves (fat and protein). Juices and broths (¼ liter each) as well as water and tea are drunk. All body cells enter a protective mechanism, deposits are broken down and degenerative cells regress.

Detox 16:8 Interval vegan bases refers to a dietary detox diet in which proteins are almost completely avoided. Only foods that are predominantly alkaline are eaten. In this vegan alkaline detox diet, the body does not completely switch to a fasting metabolism. Instead, the body undergoes a deacidification treatment that has a positive effect on well-being and health.

We follow the 16:8 detox interval concept, which involves taking a break from eating for at least 16 hours. This triggers autophagy, the body's own waste removal process. Autophagy (eating oneself) is currently the best scientifically proven detox method. The detoxification process takes place directly in the cells. We start in the morning with tea and from 11 a.m. we have home-made alkaline porridge and fruit and/or vegetables and salads. In the evening, a meal of soup, vegetables, potatoes, dips and/or alkaline bread is planned for 6 pm.

Imitative fasting (mock fasting method): Mock fasting means that the body receives a scientifically precisely coordinated food composition for 5 days, which supplies the highest possible amount of micro and macronutrients without the body recognizing that it is being supplied with food, as the corresponding signalling pathways in the metabolism remain deactivated. This is why the body remains in fasting metabolism (imitative or sham fasting) despite daily solid meals. The daily calorie intake is between 800 and 1150 kcal. We have developed this method further and integrate intermittent fasting and spermidine-rich foods into our diet. This further stimulates autophagy (cell cleansing).

You can organize your time as you wish. Our motto is: Everything can - nothing must! There are free mornings and afternoons - time to retreat, for excursions, massages, swimming pool etc.

From February 17 to 21, I was at the Waldbreitbach Monastery for a fasting, hiking and yoga retreat. I traveled by train. The connection was quite good. I would like to offer a pick-up service for people arriving by train. I went on by cab which cost me a lot. The reception was very friendly and open. The daily routine was well explained, including the best way to do an enema and what we should pay attention to. Exercise in the fresh air every day, whether it was raining, sunny or windy. Yoga twice a day and documentation on fasting, healthy eating and exercise/sport. Our fasting instructor responded to everyone's needs. She was very caring and nurturing. I felt that I was in good hands with her. Thank you very much for the good time. I would love to come back.

My fasting retreat in Waldbreitbach was simply wonderful. The combination of hiking, yoga and an alkaline vegan diet was perfectly balanced. The yoga classes were professionally led and very beneficial. The varied daily program provided a great balance of activity and relaxation. The rooms were beautiful and clean, and the location of the monastery in the middle of nature is simply fantastic. An absolute recommendation for anyone who wants to do something good for body and soul!

The 5 days of fasting were a great experience, the monastery is a great location (including new, clean rooms with a view of the valley) and the surroundings in the Westerwald are ideal. However, I was a little disappointed with the course management. I missed a central welcome, introduction at mealtimes and proactive communication with the participants. This role was often taken over by other course participants who had already been there a few days longer. The course management answered all questions, but unfortunately it sometimes seemed as if the compulsory program was being completed.
