Summary

Would you like to let go of everything, let yourself go and feel life in all its depth? In a safe space, without fear of judgment - neither from others nor from yourself?
Then this is more than the right place for you.

Yallah, come with us to a retreat in The Gambia, more precisely on the beach in the small village of Sanyang.

YOGA

Stretch your body, caress your soul and welcome the rising sun with yoga and meditation surrounded by white beaches, cows, colorful birds and the sea. The yoga is suitable for all levels. Due to the small group size, individual topics can be addressed wonderfully.

WORKSHOP

Enjoy an African breakfast and then spend the morning in the safe space we create together in our workshops. This is perhaps your most valuable time to get in touch with your desires and needs. You will encounter blockages that stand in your way and learn to dissolve them through loving acceptance and targeted exercises.

FUN

In the afternoon you can simply do nothing, laze on the beach, go for a walk by the sea or perhaps find a wave or two to surf.
We offer you a good mix of free time and cultural excursions where you can get to know the country and its people.

DRUMMING/DANCING

In the early evening, you can let off steam by learning the djembe drum or, if you already drum, learn new rhythms or other drums. Alternatively, you can also learn African dance instead of drumming. This ignites an enormous zest for life and a fire in you, grounds you and is the most fun anyway with live drumming and with the earth of Africa under your feet.

RELAXATION

After you have once again been spoiled with a delicious traditional meal, we end the day quietly and on two evenings with a wonderful surprise.

Accommodation

Our home for this week is the Mama Limbo Drumming and Dance School in Sanyang Beach. Two minutes walk from the beach and surrounded by a beautiful lagoon. The center, which so far consists of 7 rooms, a common room, a kitchen and a beautiful outdoor area, is the heart project of Kebba and his comrades-in-arms, who want to create a future for the youth abroad through hard work in their home country Gambia. Every month, they set aside money to further expand the Mama Limbo Drumming and Dance School in The Gambia. Mama Limbo is not just a center for the preservation of culture. 30 percent of the income goes to the local hospital and orphanage.

Catering

In The Gambia, people eat mainly rice and fish, as well as potatoes, eggs, sausage, vegetables and fruit. We are accommodated locally and eat locally. If you have any intolerances or special requests, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. Vegetarian is no problem.

sequence

The days begin with yoga and meditation,
followed by a delicious breakfast. We then meet in a safe space for our group coaching, which is based on non-violent communication and the teachings of Eckhardt Tolle.
With your lunch snack in hand, you can unwind, go for a walk on the beach three minutes away, rent a surfboard and look for waves, swim, read, take a batik course and so on.
In the evening, we meet up for dancing and drumming. Before you can watch the sunset and round off the evening with a delicious meal. The Mama Limbo team will be delighted to chat with you over a cup of tea or a gossip session in the shade of the trees. In this part of the world, it is part of the culture to get together and exchange ideas, take time for each other and learn from each other. You're also likely to be given a few gifts if you're nice. Be prepared :)

Arrival

You can either fly to Banjul, the airport is about 35 minutes away from our accommodation.
Alternatively, you can fly to Dakar in Senegal, travel down the coast and we will pick you up at the ferry in The Gambia. You would cross the river from Senegal to The Gambia if you come from this side.
