Summary

Would you like to let go of everything, express yourself fully, and experience life in all its depth? In a safe space, without fear of judgment—neither from others nor from yourself? Then you've come to the right place. Yallah, come with us on a retreat to Gambia, more precisely to the beach of the small village of Sanyang.

YOGA Stretch your body, caress your soul, and greet the rising sun with yoga and meditation, surrounded by white beaches, cows, colorful birds, and the sea. The yoga is suitable for all levels. The small group size allows us to address individual issues wonderfully.

WORKSHOP Enjoy an African breakfast and then spend the morning in the safe space we create together in our workshops. This may be your most valuable time to get in touch with your desires and needs. You will encounter blockages that stand in your way and learn to dissolve them through loving acceptance and targeted exercises. FUN

In the afternoon, you can simply do nothing, laze on the beach, walk by the sea, or perhaps find a wave or two to surf. We offer you a good mix of free time and cultural excursions where you can get to know the country and its people.

DRUMMING/DANCING In the early evening, you can let off steam by learning to play the djembe drum or, if you already play drums, learn new rhythms or other drums. Alternatively, you can learn African dance instead of drumming. This will ignite an enormous zest for life and a fire within you, ground you, and, in any case, be the most fun way to drum live with the earth of Africa beneath your feet. RELAXATION After you have once again been treated to a delicious traditional meal, we will end the day quietly and, on two evenings, with a wonderful surprise.

Accommodation

Our home for this week is the Mama Limbo Drumming and Dance School in Sanyang Beach. It is a two-minute walk from the beach and surrounded by a beautiful lagoon. The center, which currently consists of seven rooms, a common room, a kitchen, and a beautiful outdoor area, is the passion project of Kebba and his colleagues, who want to create a future for young people abroad through hard work in their home country of Gambia. Every month, they set aside money to further expand the Mama Limbo Drumming and Dance School in Gambia. Mama Limbo is not just a center for preserving culture. Thirty percent of the proceeds go to the local hospital and orphanage.

Catering

In Gambia, people mainly eat rice and fish, as well as potatoes, eggs, sausage, vegetables, and fruit. We stay in local accommodation and eat local food. If you have any food intolerances or special requests, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. Vegetarian meals are no problem.

sequence

The days begin with yoga and meditation, followed by a delicious breakfast. Afterwards, we meet in a protected space for our group coaching, which is based on non-violent communication and the teachings of Eckhardt Tolle.
With your lunch snack in hand, you can relax, take a walk on the beach three minutes away, rent a surfboard and search for waves, swim, read, take a batik course, and so much more. In the evening, we meet for dancing and drumming. Then you can watch the sunset and end the evening with a delicious meal. The Mama Limbo team is looking forward to chatting with you over tea or gossiping together, typically in the shade of the trees. In this part of the world, it is part of the culture to sit down together and talk, to take time for each other and learn from each other. You will also almost certainly receive some gifts if you are nice. Be prepared :)

Arrival

You can either fly to Banjul, the airport is about 35 minutes from our accommodation. Alternatively, you can fly to Dakar in Senegal, travel down the coast a little further, and we will pick you up at the ferry in Gambia. You would use this ferry to cross the river from Senegal to Gambia if you are coming from that side.
