Summary

Would you like to examine a current, challenging situation in depth—in a constructive way and without interruption—and/or get acquainted with one of the most successful methods of self-reflection, Japanese introspection (Naikan), in a condensed version? Then the "Introductory Naikan" is the perfect choice for you.
You will spend three days (arrival and departure count as one day) in complete seclusion, without contact with the outside world or your fellow practitioners, in a private cabin (room), reflecting on a situation or a person with the help of three questions. Your guide will visit you about nine times a day to listen to your answers. There will be no commentary or feedback on what you have worked through—you are free to gain your insights entirely on your own, without judgment from an outsider. You will be fully taken care of and need not worry about your physical well-being. Three meals will be served to your room, and fruit, drinks, and sweets are always available—you just have to help yourself... Self-discovery hardly gets any better than this.

Accommodation

Two of our four rooms face southeast and have balconies, while the other two face northwest. We offer a single room, a small double room, a large room with two double cabins, and a large room with three cabins (similar to Japanese-style rooms). There is a surcharge of €60 for the single room for the entire stay.

Catering

If you have an intolerance to gluten, milk protein, or other foods, or simply don’t like them, we can easily accommodate your needs and prepare vegan meals, for example. Please let us know about any allergies, intolerances, or food preferences well in advance of the seminar (about one week beforehand) so that we can adjust our menu accordingly.

sequence

Leave your everyday life behind and immerse yourself in a new world. Feel (almost) like a child again—someone who doesn’t have to worry about a thing and is lovingly cared for in every way.
Whether you bring a current issue with you or wish to examine your relationship with a specific person more closely is entirely up to you. After arrival and dinner, the introductory session takes place, during which the daily schedule and how to approach the three Naikan questions will be explained, and you will have ample opportunity to ask questions. Immediately afterward, the exercise begins, interspersed with brief conversations with the facilitator.
Over the course of these 3 days, in addition to approximately 25 short one-on-one conversations, 9 meals, and fruit, beverages, etc., you will gain an initial insight into self-reflection using the Japanese Naikan method (Nai = inside, kan = to observe). You may even find that you have already mastered a major challenge in your daily life—in any case, the “tools” provided by the three questions will remain with you...
