Please bring sturdy shoes and a warm jacket, as some of the activities may require them. If you are interested, you can go swimming in one of the many lakes in the area – don't forget your swimwear and possibly a large bath towel.
What exactly is NIKSEN? The Dutch word corresponds to the Italian concept of dolce far niente ("sweet idleness"). That may sound simple, but anyone who is stuck in a cycle of tasks, messages, and obligations knows the feeling of going around in circles without getting anywhere. When you're stuck in a hamster wheel, there's little room for creativity or serenity. Your energy is drained and your productivity stagnates. For us, this week of DOING NOTHING does not mean that you just lie in a hammock, although such times are also specifically planned. Rather, it is about you NOT having to make ANY decisions. You let us know in advance what you don't eat or would like to eat, and then you don't have to make any more decisions from the moment you arrive at KULTURGUTLEBEN. You just let yourself go and enjoy not being responsible for anything happening.
It's best to hand in your smartphone and enjoy not being reachable for once. This will, of course, increase your relaxation many times over. If you announce this in advance, or as a compromise, are only available once in the evening for 30 minutes, then this must also be accepted by those around you. In case of an emergency, my cell phone number can be left with relatives.
You can get in my car and go swimming with me and our small group in one of the lakes, or just lie on the shore and enjoy the view. I'll drive you there and you can just enjoy yourself. You can come along for a stroll through a small town, sit in a street café and not have to worry about a thing.
After a leisurely breakfast, you will be given a place in the garden: a hammock, a swing seat, or a deck chair. You can simply lie there, breathe deeply and consciously, watch the insects busily going about their business, and leaf through wonderfully inspiring magazines until I come and tell you that lunch is ready.
This is how you will spend your days, finding your inner peace. You can simply enjoy, consciously perceive what is around you, and not have to do anything with it. This will automatically open you up and fill you with a wave of inspiration. NIKSEN is about enjoying your time off and giving your mind a break. This will make you more balanced and happier. Of course, you will also sleep better, as all the stressful and sometimes unnecessary baggage will no longer weigh you down. After this week, you may decide to incorporate at least one NIKSEN day per month into your daily routine. It will lead to more serenity and inner peace, and thus to a more stable immune system.
In addition to the experiences you have during the week, you will receive a guidebook from us. The tips in the book will help you escape stress by listening to your needs and allowing more balance into your life. At the end of the retreat, you will drive home after breakfast and have Sunday to settle back into your everyday life.
