MORE THAN JUST FUNCTIONING: 1:1 MEN'S RETREAT IN NATURE · Who am I without achievement?

Summary

This retreat is not a men’s group, not a seminar on masculinity, and not a self-improvement program. It is a guided one-on-one retreat for men who want to take time to see things more clearly again and to explore the questions that often don’t find a place in everyday life.

Perhaps you’ll come with a very specific issue in mind: it might be a career decision, a relationship that’s changed, your role as a father, or the question of how you want to shape the next phase of your life. Or perhaps you can’t quite put your finger on it and just sense that it’s time to hit the pause button.

After all, a lot is going well—you’re juggling work, family, and your relationship; you’re functioning, holding it all together, and from the outside, everything seems fine. But perhaps you’re finding less and less joy in it all, noticing that your energy is waning, and feeling like you’ve lost a piece of yourself somewhere amid all the tasks and obligations.

This is often where a sense of disorientation begins—something that’s rarely talked about. Because we’ve learned to perform, take on responsibility, and persevere, but unfortunately, we’ve rarely learned to ask ourselves: Who am I, really, beyond my achievements?

This retreat therefore creates space for exactly this question.

✦ What you can look forward to
Three days in nature, far from schedules and obligations—you’ll have the time and space to focus on what’s on your mind right now.
I’ll create a framework for you where you can sort through your thoughts, explore questions, and discover new perspectives. Depending on the topic, we’ll use walk-and-talk sessions, creative methods, nature experiences, body awareness, and simple exercises that can help you reconnect with yourself and your needs.

Many men tell me after these days that, for the first time in a long while, they felt they didn’t have to “deliver”—but simply had the time to reconnect with their own thoughts and get their bearings.
You won’t leave this retreat with a completely new life plan, but you will leave with more clarity, a calmer mind, and the feeling that you’re back in the driver’s seat of your own life.

✦ The Next Step
As you read this, you may sense that this topic resonates with you.
And perhaps you’re also wondering whether my retreat is really the right fit for you right now.
You don’t have to decide that just yet—that’s what the free introductory consultation is for.
If you’d like, we can talk first—with no obligation—to see what you’d like to achieve, whether my program fits your situation, and if we click.
The conversation will take about 15 minutes.
Afterward, you can take your time to decide.
Feel free to reach out to me!

✦ How I Work
I’m Sabine, a psychological counselor and the woman behind the “green couch.”
I support people through life transitions, especially when it comes to reconnecting with themselves, taking their own boundaries seriously, and no longer ignoring their own needs.

My approach is nervous-system-friendly and neurodivergent-friendly—I work with heart and humor, but also with a clear, honest stance and a willingness to explore with you even the places where things get uncomfortable.
With me, you’ll find a safe space when a lot is going on inside—things you may have been carrying alone for far too long—and something that’s become very rare: plenty of time and undivided attention, because during your retreat, I’m there exclusively for you to guide you one-on-one through your process.
Many experience this time with me as a safe haven from everyday life: finally not having to “function,” not having to “perform,” and not having to prove anything to anyone. Simply being cared for for a few days, taking a deep breath, and being able to reconnect with yourself.
That’s why I deliberately work with only a few women and men per season (June–October), as this kind of support requires time, presence, and attention.

My foundation is built on training in life and social counseling, couples and sex therapy, bodywork, human energetics, shamanism, and nature and wilderness education. Over the years, this has evolved into my own style: psychologically grounded, nature-based, and—if desired—supplemented with rituals and energy work.

✦ The Location
My lovingly run retreat is located in the Murtal valley in Styria, nestled among mountains, forests, and water, which I open to guests in the summer. A place to take a deep breath—no TV, no radio noise, and no constant background noise that pulls you back into the world when you’re actually trying to unwind. Instead, nature’s own movie theater with the murmur of a stream and a chorus of birds. No Wi-Fi, but a full connection to nature and to yourself.

But in my retreats, nature is more than just a backdrop—it not only regulates the nervous system but is also an important part of the process.

✦ What Your Days Will Look Like Here
Your retreat follows a clear structure but isn’t meticulously scheduled down to the minute.
We work with whatever arises and is important at the moment.

Day 1 – Arrival
Check-in starts at 3:00 p.m., and you’re welcome to take some time to settle in.
Afterward, we’ll get to know each other during a “Walk & Talk” in nature and explore together the topic that brought you here.
The evening is intentionally quiet: settling in, unwinding, a cozy dinner, and stargazing.

Day 2 – Deepening
The second day is the heart of your retreat.
After breakfast, we’ll create space for your topic. Depending on the process, we’ll work through conversation, in nature, through movement, creatively, or via physical awareness.
In between, there will be regular breaks to process your thoughts and rest.
The evening winds down peacefully over dinner.

Day 3 – Integration
After breakfast, we’ll take some time together to reflect on what we’ve experienced.
What has come to light, what has become clearer, and what aspects of this should accompany you back into your everyday life.
Your retreat ends around 10:00 a.m.
