In this course, we immerse ourselves in the universe of figurative design. We will look at man himself and also at how man has been portrayed throughout the ages. We also consider from a contemporary perspective what the added value of a creative realization could be, when we could simply scan the model, the person, and print it out in 3D.
Working with clay is like sketching with a pencil and eraser, simply 3-dimensional. You can try, play, remove and reapply. Attempts at abstraction or the in-depth study of anatomy can be approached in a playful way thanks to this constant possibility of correction. A modeled figure can also become the basis for a sculptural project in stone or bronze.
The course program is not fixed. Depending on the interests of the participants, work can be more abstract/experimental or more realistic, combined with anatomy teaching.
The construction technique is also freely selectable. Depending on this, the figures can be fired or are ready to be cast. It is also possible to work on a large scale using iron scaffolding.
Several technical and theoretical inserts with the most basic rules on anatomy and proportions in the body, head and face accompany the week.
During this week, 28 hours will be spent working with models, for which a model fee of CHF 80 per person will be charged at the end of the course.
