Objects made of paper with Sigrid Vollmer

Summary

Paper can be torn, cut, compressed, folded, perforated, creased, crumpled, creased, embossed, stacked, layered, wet-formed and colored.
This changes the shape, firmness and flexibility of the sheet, creating diverse structures and new impressions. These can remain on the surface or transform into a sculptural object, which is given additional effects through light and shadow in its upturns, depressions and edges.
Abstract paper reliefs develop, but also works reminiscent of landscapes. Even small folds of paper - unspectacular on their own - develop their own dynamic and often unexpected effect in repetition and dense juxtaposition. Small accents of color can emphasize individual edges or curves.
The design possibilities of our paper pictures are more than diverse and, due to the material properties of the selected paper, the editing processes often reveal surprising variations.
We will explore the hidden properties of paper with curiosity and a love of experimentation - that's all you need to bring for this workshop. However, we will take away a very individual, framed paper object and hopefully an enthusiasm for this versatile material. All work processes are designed so that the project can be further developed and continued at home.
