When thinking no longer helps, we need something that can lead us to new, unexpected experiences and solutions. Solution-oriented painting LOM® is a form of therapy in which concerns can be clarified and resolved directly, using a structured method and beyond conceivable paths, through painting. Concerns can include:
- old stressful experiences and memories - current stressful issues (including physical symptoms) - obstructive thought patterns, old attributions, strong feelings - relationship concerns and clarifications - decisions that are difficult to make - wishes, dreams, abilities - diffuse discomfort and much more
Bettina Egger: LOM® Solution-Oriented Painting is an art therapy method that involves replacing (disturbing) images in the brain with undisturbed ones. The images are selected in relation to specific issues before painting and then painted in their perceived or simplest form. The aim is to create a new, neutral impression.
Metaphors and brain-friendly images allow for new, more appropriate, or more helpful inner images that control feelings and actions in such a way that new possibilities can arise in life. In connection with your concern, we develop an image task—a metaphor (it means nothing, but it can move something) or a remembered image.
The image is then painted slowly and with devoted attention. While painting, contact with the image is established, which leads to further steps. The image tasks are suitable for both beginners and experienced painters. We do not work with interpretations, illustrations, symbols, or meanings.
