Day 1 - A relaxed arrival
Overnight stay in a boutique hotel
After your arrival at Bucharest Airport, you will be taken directly to the hotel. There you will have time to freshen up and settle in. You will then meet the other guests on the photo tour. Together we will visit the impressive Ceaușescu Villa - a place full of history and curiosities. We end the evening with a traditional Romanian dinner and discuss the program for the coming days in a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 2 - Culture and city life
Overnight stay in a boutique hotel
In the morning, you will visit Ceaușescu's Palace - the heaviest building in the world and the second largest government building after the Pentagon. The monumental architecture offers numerous impressive photo opportunities. In the afternoon, you will have time to explore Bucharest individually: alone or in small groups, you will roam the streets and alleyways of the old town, photographing street scenes, people, patterns and moments. Today your camera is a witness to urban diversity.
Day 3 - Mud volcanoes, village tour
Overnight stay in a guesthouse
Early in the morning we head to the spectacular mud volcanoes. The bizarre structures and textures of this natural phenomenon are perfect for black and white photography. In the afternoon, the group splits up: while one group visits a remote village with a local guide - as if from another time - the other group explores Kronstadt, the historic center of Transylvania, with its narrow streets and the special flair of a medieval town.
Day 4 - The mountain villages
Overnight stay in a guesthouse
The second part of the group goes to the remote village today and meets the people there at work - direct, honest and full of life. At the same time, the other group can continue to explore Kronstadt photographically.
We then travel on together into the heart of Transylvania. Our destination: a remote Romanian Orthodox monastery that is still run by monks today. In the quiet power of this place, you will have time for inner contemplation - and with a bit of luck, you will be able to observe the monks at work.
In the evening, we reach a small Transylvanian Saxon village, which will be our home for the next few days. We are warmly welcomed there - with genuine home cooking, home-distilled schnapps and local wine.
Day 5 - Village life and charcoal burners
Overnight stay in a guest room
The morning is at your leisure. Discover the village on your own: colorful facades, winding alleys, the impressive fortified church - all nestled in the misty hilly landscape.
In the evening, we immerse ourselves in an almost extinct craft tradition: we visit the charcoal burners and their smoking, glowing piles - archaic, hot, photogenic.
Day 6 - Village tour and boilermaker
Overnight stay in a guest room
Today we take a short tour of other villages in the area. We let ourselves drift, stopping wherever the light is special, the scene is right or life is calling along the way.
In the afternoon, we visit a Roma boilermaker. Insights into this traditional craft are rare, as many Roma families live in seclusion. But we have access and are allowed to immerse ourselves in a world that otherwise remains closed.
Day 7 - The shepherds and other villages
Overnight stay in a guest room
The coachman will be waiting for you in the horse-drawn carriage before sunrise. After about an hour's drive, we reach the hills of the shepherds - just in time to catch the golden light of the morning. In addition to impressive pictures, a genuine shepherd's breakfast awaits you here - simple, honest, powerful.
After a break and a hot soup at lunchtime, we visit two more villages, each with their own character and inviting for photographs. We spend the evening in a local village pub - with a drink, in conversation, with our eyes open to the slowness of life.
Day 8 - A joyful return home
"La Revedere" means goodbye in Romanian. After a week full of impressions, encounters and pictures, I will take you safely back to the airport. Your memory card is full, hopefully so is your heart. What remains are memories that will settle and linger over the coming weeks.
The program is a sample program and serves as a guide. However, there may be changes, postponements or cancellations at short notice. In Romania, a little more spontaneity and adaptability is required than we are used to here at home.
