Stone and being - stone sculpting as concentrated relaxation and an encounter with yourself

A workshop on the stone for anyone interested - with or without previous knowledge

The stone as a counterpart demands your full attention:
- It gives you time to develop your own vision
and offers you the space to let your ideas become visible.
- Working with the stone shows you how to deal with coincidences and "failures"
and teaches you to see resistance as a challenge, e.g. the harder the material, the less force you put against the stone."
- The stone challenges you to explore your own (working) attitude towards yourself and the material.
- Together with the stone, you can explore creative and personal processes and
transfer them to your areas of life and work.

These exciting experiences are encouraged while working on your own sculpture and through discussions in the group. The experienced stone sculptor and seminar leader Birgit Cauer will accompany you on your expedition around stone and being in the form of instructions, dialogs and suggestions. This also includes technique, design, working posture, tools and materials.
The idyllic garden of the Neue Atelierhaus Panzerhalle and the encounter with like-minded people provide the setting for this concentrated recreation. We work outdoors between gnarled pine trees and green meadows. In case of rain, tents are available. The nearby lakes Sacrow and Groß Glienicke invite you to take a dip afterwards.
Material: Marble, travertine, soft limestone or porphyry
Please bring: Safety goggles, gloves, work shoes, sun protection, lunch

If required, please research the current accommodation options in Groß Glienicke or Seeburg yourself.

Please bring something to eat for the lunch break. We will have a picnic lunch together. Coffee and tea will be available on site.

Check-in and warm-up, familiarization with materials, working posture, technique and design, individual support, individual and group discussions, lunch together.
Daily 10 am to 6 pm
Saturday evening open end to work, eat and celebrate

on Sunday the workshop ends at 5 pm

How to find us
Accessible by car in only 25 minutes from Charlottenburg
B2 Heerstr. direction Potsdam
Turn left at the Aral gas station on the left, continue on B2 towards Potsdam = (Wilhelmstr.)
Continue straight ahead (a few kilometers) until
at the fork in the road with traffic lights: turn right towards Potsdam (B2)
After approx. 100 m turn right again (direction Seeburg and LEG Brandenburg) = Seeburger Chaussee
After the left-hand bend there is a walled area on the right-hand side: drive into the 2nd entrance on the right and park immediately on the left-hand side. On the right is the brick building: former forest school = new studio building Panzerhalle

By bus:
From Rathaus Spandau underground station, take bus 135 towards Alt-Kladow or bus 638 towards Potsdam, Campus Jungfernsee, get off at the Außenweg (Berlin) stop (AB fare), then walk for approx. 9 minutes: immediately after the bus stop there is a footpath on the right through the forest, walk straight ahead for approx. 5 minutes. When you come out of the forest, there is a hall on the left, please keep right and follow the road through the settlement. After four minutes you will reach Neues Atelierhaus Panzerhalle
From Rathaus Spandau underground station, take bus 638 towards Potsdam, Campus Jungfernsee to the Am Park stop, change to the 604 towards Falkensee, get off at Waldsiedlung (Groß Glienicke), fare ABC, (approx. 20 minutes longer journey time)
From Potsdam main station (S), streetcar 96 direction Potsdam, Campus Jungfernsee, change to the 604, direction Falkensee, station, Waldsiedlung (Groß Glienicke), tariff ABC
