In the idyllic monastery complex, we enjoy an oasis of calm, surrounded by powerful nature, to reflect entirely on ourselves. We take enough time to discover ways to empty our minds and enjoy the calming power of thought fasting. A retreat from our familiar surroundings can help us find our inner balance and reconnect with our source of strength.

We must take good care of ourselves time and again, allowing ourselves a little time out to replenish our energy resources for the demands of everyday life. Escape the spiral of stress – a time out for body, mind, and soul with revitalizing, dynamic, and relaxing breathing and yoga techniques. Rounded off with mindfulness exercises and mindfulness techniques from the MBSR method, as well as meditation and various relaxation techniques such as autogenic training and progressive muscle relaxation, yoga nidra, our nervous system and restless mind are gradually guided into a state of calm. A feeling of relaxation and deep inner peace can be experienced.

This mental detox, yoga, and hiking week is a time-out and a journey to your inner self. Feel, perceive, observe, simply be.

In 2015, the new guest house at Steinfeld Monastery opened its doors. The former boarding school was converted into 64 rooms of a high four-star standard. Only the floor plan and the staircase remind us that students once lived there. The double and single rooms, ranging in size from 25 m² to 30 m², and the two junior suites, measuring 48 m², exude monastic simplicity combined with contemporary design and comfort. They are furnished with solid oak flooring, natural stone in the bathrooms, and natural materials for fabrics, covers, and blankets. The comfortable box-spring beds are generously sized at 2.10 m in length. Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, minibar, and telescopic reading lamps are standard. Some of the double rooms are also equipped with a sofa bed. In addition, all rooms are barrier-free, and three rooms have been equipped with panoramic windows to accommodate guests with disabilities. A glass elevator connects the three floors of the building. The rooms are decorated with works of art from the Steinfelder Academy. However, guests still enjoy the monastic simplicity of the rooms in the baroque wing of the monastery. The cozy single and double rooms are functionally equipped with shower/WC or offer a shared bathroom. In the double rooms, the beds are mainly separate. Guests have access to inviting lounges especially for groups or families. Here you can spend the afternoon or evening hours in a relaxed atmosphere. Catering

In the morning, we are treated to a hearty breakfast. A wholesome lunch and dinner are also provided. A salad bar is available, as well as a wide selection of fish/vegetarian/vegan alternatives. Full board is provided for our group, but is not included in the seminar price. Food intolerances can be taken into account (allergies). Please specify when making your reservation.

Addendum: The week includes 2 group hikes. Depending on the weather, the schedule and hiking days may be adjusted. Everything is optional and not compulsory – everything is allowed, nothing is mandatory. If your body needs more rest, then you can follow this impulse and take some time off. 1 free afternoon.

Room keys will be handed out from around 2:00 p.m., the group will meet at 6:00 p.m. for dinner, and 2–3 tables will be reserved for our group in the dining room. The seminar officially begins at 8:00 p.m. If you will not be able to arrive until after 6:30 p.m., please notify the monastery so that your room key can be left for you. The seminar ends on the day of departure after lunch, around 1:30 p.m. If you wish to extend your stay, please make a reservation in good time. Bed linen and towels are provided on site. Feel free to bring your own yoga equipment and blanket—whatever you need for your practice. If you don't have anything with you for transportation reasons or because you forgot, you can rent equipment at the monastery for a small fee. Please let the monastery know as soon as possible so that it can be set up for you in the seminar room.

Arrival

Steinfeld Abbey is located in the heart of the scenic Northern Eifel region and is easily accessible from Aachen, Cologne, Bonn, Koblenz, and Trier.

Arriving by car From Cologne/Bonn/Ruhr area: Take the A1 motorway to the Nettersheim exit (AS 113), then follow the signs for "Kloster Steinfeld." From Aachen or Trier/Südeifel: Take the B 258 to the roundabout at the village of Krekel. From there, follow the signs to "Kloster Steinfeld." Arriving by train Take the Cologne-Gerolstein/Trier regional train line to Urft (1.5 km to Steinfeld) or Kall (7 km to Steinfeld). From there, continue by taxi bus to Steinfeld (use with VRS train ticket at no extra cost, registration 1 hour before departure by calling 0 18 06 15 15 15).

A nice, quiet place, delicious food, very friendly staff. I was able to relax very well there. There was too much program for me on some days, so I didn't take part in some of it. But that was perfectly OK. I will definitely come back again.

A great experience in a great place with great people. The extended weekend was everything you can imagine. Steinfeld Monastery really is a place of power and a place to recharge your batteries. The Vivere Vital retreat was also a great experience. Having arrived with some skepticism, the group and the two facilitators quickly dispelled any doubts. I was able to fully enjoy the varied program. It was definitely too early to say goodbye on Sunday. But that's the way it is! I can only recommend everyone to take part in such a retreat. Thank you for a great few days!

The yoga retreat "Soul Yoga, Mind Detox and Hiking" was a complete success. Many thanks to Astrid, who masterfully held this course and took the whole diverse group with her. The environment at Steinfeld Monastery is perfect for a retreat like this. I would book a yoga week like this again at any time.
