Traveling - storytelling and writing in Chiemgau

Embark on a journey - to your memories, stories and travels. In this storytelling workshop at the Mountain Retreat Center in Chiemgau, we combine the art of oral storytelling with creative writing to rediscover the past and bring it to life. Together you will wander through memories, pause at special moments and create new stories. A creative break for travelers and dreamers that requires no prior knowledge.

The Retreat Center has double rooms (usually with separate beds) and single rooms - some with their own bathroom and toilet, some where you share a bathroom and toilet with other program participants, but all with a washbasin in the room.
Unlike in a hotel, our guests wear slippers, make sure that they feel comfortable in their rooms - rooms are cleaned on arrival and departure - and clear away their own dishes. To ensure that the Retreat Center is not only a place of relaxation for you, but also for the environment, we attach great importance to sustainability and use products from the region.

The full board at the Mountain Retreat Center is vegetarian and vegan. The most important meal of the day, at least according to the Chinese, is breakfast. That's why we also attach particular importance to a good, healthy breakfast - always including warm porridge. For lunch you enjoy soup, bread and spreads, and in the evening you are treated to a delicious buffet with salad, creative vegetarian-vegan main courses and a dessert. Always freshly cooked and as seasonal as possible. Intolerances can be catered for by prior arrangement.

With our feet on the ground of the Bavarian Alps and pencils on paper, we set off together: memories come to life, landscapes pass by and new stories emerge. We combine the art of oral storytelling with creative writing to rediscover the past and share it with others.

The workshop is a space for travelers and dreamers, for exchange and inspiration. You don't need any previous knowledge - just a desire for words, images and traveling in your thoughts.

Daily structure:
10.00-12.00: Oral storytelling (outside if the weather is fine)
16.00-18.00: Writing, reading and pausing (indoors)

Departure

Arrival by car
On the highway A8 (coming from Munich or Salzburg) exit at Frasdorf, direction Aschau, from there it is a 15 minute drive to Sachrang.

Arrival by train
Take the train or bus to Aschau or Prien im Chiemgau. From there you can either take the bus (few connections) or a cab to Sachrang.
Cab fare from Aschau to the Mountain Retreat Center approx. € 35.

Arrival by plane
The nearest airports are Munich or Salzburg: continue by train or bus.
