Summary

VIPASSANA Retreat
FREE THE SPIRIT

Vipassana-bhavana (unfolding of insight) uses the concentration of the mind (samadhi) for the path of liberation from suffering and represents the second of two practice paths of Buddhist meditation. In deep introspection, the liberating insight into the three characteristics (tilakkhaṇa) of human existence unfolds: impermanence (anicca), inadequacy (dukkha) and non-self (anatta), and suffering is permanently overcome (nibbana).

According to Theravada tradition, the Vipassana retreat is practiced on the basis of the Buddha's teaching discourse on the four realizations of mindfulness (satipatthana-sutta): on the body (kayanupassana), on emotional states (vedananupassana), on the mind (cittanupassana) and on mental objects (dhammanupassana).

VIPASSANA RETREATS HELP YOU,

see things as they really are (insight)
relax into yourself (serenity)
to let go of unwholesome things (equanimity)
to simply be THERE (lightness)
to wake up to your true self (liberation)

sequence

The Vipassana retreat is practiced according to Buddhist tradition, alternating between formal and non-formal practice. Each hour consists of 50 minutes of meditative practice and a short break of 10 minutes. Formal practice is practiced sitting, standing or walking, in the non-formal sessions moving, dynamic forms of meditation (such as Qi Gong) are also practiced. In this way, sitting in silence is kept "alive" again and again through more dynamic forms of meditation. The day begins with the first meditation session at 8 am, the last meditation session ends at 9 pm. After the lunch break (1 p.m. - 2 p.m.) there is the opportunity to practise walking meditation outdoors for 1 hour. The entire Vipassana retreat is spent in silence and there is the opportunity to reflect on your practice once a day with an experienced meditation teacher. The basic price of €200 covers the costs of accommodation and meals, and the retreat is held according to the Buddhist tradition of the DANA principle (free giving).

The meditation retreat was a truly enriching and profound experience. Thanks to Markus' sensitive and professional guidance, I was able to fully immerse myself in the meditation. The atmosphere was inspiring and I felt comfortable and in good hands right from the start. This experience opened up new perspectives for me and will stay with me for a long time to come. I can wholeheartedly recommend this retreat!
