Hardly any other topic is discussed, deliberated and critically examined as much as ageing. While some people lose sleep over the side or main issues, others happily embrace this stage of life that can bring so much quality.
The so-called "second half of life" is often associated with a decline in abilities and quality of life. Yet studies show that it is precisely in the second half of life that satisfaction and balance increase. The drive to achieve and competition can be replaced by serenity and gratitude.
We grow older on our own, but the way in which we age depends on us. Our body plays an important role in this, as it is the medium through which we move through this world. Through yoga and meditation, we become more mindful and sensitive to what is good for us and what harms us. Yoga gives everyone the opportunity to develop physically, mentally and spiritually at any time. We can learn to accept the limits of getting older and at the same time connect with the opportunities and focus on what strengthens us and gives us freedom.
This time-out week is a journey of discovery - both individually and as a group. We deal with:
- Practicing yoga exercises (asanas) adapted to the respective body
- Getting to know different forms of meditation
- Practicing breathing techniques
- Focusing on one's own life and life situation
- Discovering your own strengths and resources
- Illuminating the six virtues for a fulfilled "second half of life"
The six virtues are
Accepting what is
Going through life with humor and serenity
Looking gratefully at your own life
Adjusting expectations to the circumstances
Practicing letting go
"Beginners Mind" - keeping the spirit of "curiosity"
Each day we will focus on a specific virtue or attitude of the "second half of life" that helps us to keep body, mind and soul in balance and to go through life with contentment.
The retreat is specially designed for people in the second half of life, which - as Eckhard von Hirschhausen rightly says - is better than its reputation.
