While the adults have time and peace for their processes in the studio in Mariou during guided painting or solution-oriented painting, Renate Böcking (head of the Malküche in Münster, experienced school project manager, knowledgeable about Crete and languages) will organize a varied program with the children and young people. The children and young people have been enthusiastic so far.

Two responses to the Easter painting week with parallel children's program: Thank you very much for the incredibly enriching time in the studio. I never would have thought that painting could have such an impact. It was also especially nice for me to know that the children were in such good hands with Renate. That way, I was finally able to concentrate completely on myself. And for the children, it was actually one of the best vacations ever. My daughter is still very proud of how many words Renate taught her in Greek, and my son would love to go back to Crete right away to go swimming with Renate. We will definitely be back!
My two sons (aged 6 and 8) and I arrived in Plakias with great anticipation. We found affordable accommodation at Finikas with a view of the sea and benefited from a very child-friendly, tolerant host, "Kostas," as well as the walking distance to the sea. The children already knew Renate from her studio and were excited to be able to paint and do crafts with her! The creative was combined with the practical every day: the children designed Greek shopping lists and, of course, went swimming in the sea (approx. 16°C cold!) every day in glorious weather – in wetsuits! ;-) In their small group of four children (aged 6, 7, 8, and 9), they had such an eventful time every day that they were almost disappointed when I took them back at around 4:30 p.m.
Completely relaxed and without a care in the world, I was able to devote myself to my painting (in this wonderfully quiet studio with a terrace and an incredible view) and still spend time with the children and go on outings (rental car!) on my days off. All in all, it was a very successful stay of 9 days, including 5 days of painting and childcare. My boys announced while they were still there that they would be coming back! A huge thank you!
