Thank you so much for the incredibly enriching time in the studio. I would never have thought that painting could achieve so much. It was also particularly nice for me to know that the children were in such good hands with Renate. I was finally able to concentrate fully on myself. And for the children, it was actually one of the best vacations ever. My daughter is still very proud of how many words Renate taught her in Greek and my son would love to go back to Crete straight away to go swimming with Renate. We will definitely be back!
My two sons (6 and 8 years old) and I arrived in Plakias with great anticipation. We even found cheap accommodation at Finikas with a view of the sea and benefited from a very child-friendly, tolerant host "Kostas" and the fact that the sea was within walking distance. The children already knew Renate from her studio and were delighted to be able to paint and do handicrafts with her! Creative activities were combined with practical ones every day: the children drew up Greek shopping lists and of course went swimming in the (approx. 16° C cold!) sea every day in glorious weather - in wetsuits ;-) In their small group of 4 children (6,7,8,9 years) they spent such an eventful time every day that they were almost disappointed when I took them over again in the afternoon around 4.30 pm.
I was able to devote myself to my painting (in this wonderfully quiet studio with a terrace and incredible views) with complete peace of mind and still spend time with the children afterwards and on their days off and go on activities (rental car!). All in all, a very successful time of 9 days in total, including 5 painting days and childcare.
My boys announced on the spot that they would be back! A huge thank you!
