This Ikigai and meditation retreat invites you to pause and explore the question of what makes getting up in the morning worthwhile. In a peaceful, natural setting near Freiberg in Saxony, a safe space is created for you to reconnect with your true self, find inner peace, and realign your inner compass. Meditation, mindful physical practice, reflection, discussion, and free time will support you in strengthening your emotional and mental resilience, fostering emotional balance, and gaining new clarity on current life questions. Ikigai is not understood here as a rigid model, but as a living experience of meaning in everyday life. The retreat is designed for people seeking relief, guidance, and lasting inspiration for their future path—mindfully, without pressure, and within a small, supportive group. You are welcome even without prior meditation experience; an introduction provides a gentle, shared introduction to the practice.

The retreat will take place at KLEWADO (see address). The cost of accommodation is €120; please pay this amount in person upon arrival. Please send inquiries and bookings via email to the venue.
Depending on the setting, meals are either prepared for the group or cooked together, with a focus on vegetarian options; vegan meals are also available upon request. Since KLEWADO does not provide meals, the group is accompanied by someone who manages the kitchen and is passionate about cooking.
What happens in the morning? Meditation, physical practice
What happens in the afternoon? Integration, discussion
What happens in the morning? Input, reflection
What happens in the evening? Dinner, meditation, 10:00 PM lights out
What happens at lunchtime? Depending on the situation, meals are either cooked for the group or prepared together, with a focus on vegetarian or vegan options.
Is there free time for me? Free time is an integral part of the retreat. After lunch, there is a rest period until 3:00 PM, which is intentionally left open-ended. In addition, you can—after briefly letting the group or the facilitators know—take some time for yourself at any time.
Hello, my name is Thomas Qiu Hönel. I lead Ikigai retreats. I embody Ikigai and Kintsugi as a lived practice: not as a concept, but as an attitude and a path. As a certified Ikigai coach, certified resilience trainer, systemic consultant, mindfulness and stress reduction coach, MBSR teacher, and martial arts instructor, I combine experience, clarity, and depth. This path is complemented by my work as a designer and calligrapher—and by many years of Zen practice.
Mindfulness, an authentically understood ikigai, and resilience form the framework of my work. Scientifically grounded methods are combined with Zen and mindfulness meditation, yoga, martial arts, and calligraphy.
My work is streamlined and focused on what stabilizes. On what strengthens. On what endures in everyday life.
