Artistic voyage of discovery - book art and bookbinding with Anne Deuter

Turning an idea into your own book.

Creative work can be collected in an artist's book and used as inspiration. It can be very intimate and personal, a special one-off or a small edition, sculptural and robust, inviting you to touch and explore, or it can be delicate and fragile. It is a creative form of personal expression in the function of a book and can be created by anyone.

In this workshop we will work together to transform our ideas into a tangible book. Format, paper and concept go hand in hand. First we will look at the book as an art medium in general and take inspiration from art books for our own projects. Anne Deuter will introduce us to various construction and bookbinding techniques that deal with different paper covers and book materials. We will learn in which direction paper is folded, how a good openable book is bound and how a relief works on a cloth-bound book cover. In addition, we will learn all about the necessary tools and materials, their properties and correct processing so that we can continue designing our own artist books at home.

Material costs by arrangement approx. 15 - 20 €

For on-site accommodation, we offer various bedrooms with double beds. There is one shared bathroom with bath and shower per floor.

An extension of the stay is possible by arrangement.

We offer full vegetarian catering for the workshops. This consists of a breakfast buffet (only for overnight stays), hot lunch, cake and fruit as a snack, rounded off by a hot evening meal with dessert. We also serve bread, salad, a cheese platter and a selection of wines. All drinks are included.
We are happy to cater for intolerances and special diets.
We mainly use seasonal and certified organic products.

Arrival on Friday from 16:00

After dinner together at 18:00, we will start with an introduction to the theme by the artist.
On Saturday, after breakfast, we will start at 10:00 a.m. and will only be interrupted by delicious food and nice conversations until Sunday afternoon.

Arrival by car: Via A7 exit Neumünster Mitte then on B430 to Aukrug and via Hennstedt to Meezen/ A23 exit Scheenefeldt via b430 to Hohenwestedt and via Grauel to Meezen.
Parking spaces are available, as well as charging facilities for electric cars.
Parking for other vehicles is possible.
Arrival by public transport: If you arrive by train, you can be picked up from Wrist or Hohenwestedt station.
