This retreat is an invitation to discover Ashtanga Yoga as a steadfast companion in your daily life. The First Series—also known as the “Primary Series”—is a coherent system that uniquely integrates the body, breath, and focus.
Adeline Ireland guides you through this dynamic yoga practice with experience and clarity. The introduction is gentle and gradual—ideal for curious beginners and anyone looking to build a solid foundation.
Ashtanga Yoga is an energizing, physically demanding practice that is always performed in a fixed sequence. This structure provides support and guidance while simultaneously fostering deep self-awareness. The practice centers on three key elements:
Vinyasa – the connection of breath and movement in a continuous flow
Ujjayi breathing – a calm, steady breath that generates internal heat and calms the mind
Drishti – specific points of gaze that strengthen focus and direct it inward
This combination has a clarifying, strengthening, and mentally centering effect. Step by step, you will become familiar with the individual asanas of the first series, with a focus on alignment, breathing, and mindful execution.
In the afternoons, you will immerse yourself in the calm depths of letting go with Yin Yoga—an ideal complement to the challenging morning practice. Technical workshops and insights into philosophy, breathing techniques, and meditation practice round out the program.
Between sessions, there is plenty of time for relaxation: the finca’s spacious garden, the spa with saunas and an indoor pool, or a lounger by the saltwater pool invite you to pause and reflect. And for those who wish, the charming village of Montuiri, with its windmills and narrow streets, can be explored by bike or on foot.
This retreat is designed for anyone willing to engage in a structured yet mindful practice. Openness and a desire to discover something new are the only prerequisites.
Program Overview:
Two two-hour yoga sessions daily (usually Ashtanga in the morning, Yin Yoga in the afternoon), workshops on technique, philosophy, breathwork, and meditation, and time for questions and reflection. There are no scheduled activities on the arrival and departure days.
