Immerse yourself in the fascination of Shodo! The Japanese art of writing with brush and ink, known to many as calligraphy, is philosophy, meditation and the art of writing at the same time. Mind and soul come into harmony. Experience peace and concentration, freedom and discipline.
Although the characters and the order of the strokes are strictly prescribed, each Shodo artist shows their own personality through the brush technique and different ink color intensity - similar to a musician who creates a connection between printed notes and sounding tones.
Shodo is based on four treasures: the brush, the ink, the rubbing stone and the paper. The self-production of liquid ink is a process of preparation for the unification of body and mind. Conscious breathing brings inner peace and respect for the work of art.
Beautiful writing ultimately comes from the right posture. You sit upright and at the right distance from the table. The position of the brush is just as important. You don't just write with your wrist, but with your whole body.
