In this weekend workshop with calligrapher and book artist Birgit Nass, we combine paper design, lettering and bookbinding techniques to create an individual artist's book. Using various papers, cardboard, wire, twine and other materials, we will create textile, woven structures that serve as a basis or dialog partner for calligraphic compositions. The combination of woven paper and free lettering enables new visual approaches - playful, experimental and poetic. In the end, we will combine the resulting sheets and objects into a book with a woven spine. The artist's book grows with each step - a unique piece that combines material experience, artistic writing and bookbinding craftsmanship. The course is open to beginners and advanced students.
What you can expect:
- Experimental work with different papers and materials
- Introduction and continuation of calligraphic techniques and free script textures
- Designing an individual artist's book with a woven spine
