Are you looking for a place to take a break from the daily hustle and bustle and the monotonous grind of life? And would you like to finally have plenty of time to paint?
The Mal-Reich is the perfect place for you: With intuitive painting, anything goes. And nothing is required.
I’ll guide you through your painting process: Mindfully. Supportively. Without pressure or criticism. Follow your own path.
The small Baroque town of Oranienbaum is nestled in the heart of the beautiful Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz. It’s worth staying longer than just a day to discover the sprawling parks with castles, bridges, and inspiring views. The Oranienbaum Heath and the vast Elbe meadows also invite you to take long afternoon walks after you’ve wielded your brush in the morning.
The most important facts in a nutshell:
Welcome reception on the day of arrival (around 7:30 p.m.; the location will be announced later)
Three 3-hour painting sessions (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.) with an instructor at the Das Mal-Reich studio
Final session on the day of departure at the studio (approx. 11 a.m.–12 p.m.)
All art supplies (paints, paper, tools) are provided
Drinks and snacks will be available during class hours
On the evening of your arrival (Sunday), I’d like to invite you—if you’d like, and depending on the weather and season—to take a walk or have a drink to welcome you to Oranienbaum.
After a leisurely and hearty breakfast at your accommodation, we’ll meet at the Mal-Reich around 10 a.m. on Monday. Depending on where you’re staying, you can walk over or park conveniently in the courtyard in front of the studio.
On the first day, we’ll take some time to get to know the studio and each other better. After a brief introduction and a group warm-up for the painting session, each participant’s personal painting journey begins, which I’ll guide individually.
Around 1 p.m., the first painting session ends after a group wrap-up and a review of our first encounter with our own “mirror images.”
On the following days, we’ll start at the same time in the studio. We’ll set the tone for the day with a meditation or physical exercise, and then you’ll dive right back into your own painting process—until around 1 p.m.
The afternoons and evenings of each day are yours to spend as you wish. I’m happy to offer tips for excursions in the area, or you can simply let your mind wander—with the impressions from your painting journey.
On Thursday, we’ll meet at the studio around 11 a.m. To wrap things up and say goodbye, we’ll take a little time to capture our reflections on our paintings. The paintings, now dry, will be carefully packed, and you’ll begin your journey home.
Oranienbaum is just a few minutes' drive from the A9 and is easy to reach. Traveling by train via Dessau is also a good option. You can even get to Oranienbaum by bike: the Elbe Cycle Route runs right nearby. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
