DISCOVER YOURSELF IN STONE!

Summary

Encountering STONE—whether travertine or tuff—can raise existential questions and makes us feel and see them directly, in our own bodies. I aim to draw out and guide this process—both by teaching artistic methods and by fostering mindfulness in how we relate to ourselves and others.

A space is created that allows for a deeper immersion in artistic processes.

“The stillness, the process of getting to know and immersing myself in another cosmos realigns me and connects me to something else. This goes hand in hand with exploring and reflecting on my own desires and ideas and translating them into concrete, creative action.”

The stone, as your counterpart, challenges you and demands your full attention:
- It gives you time to develop your own vision
and offers you the space to bring your ideas to life.
- Working with the stone shows you how to deal with coincidences and “setbacks”
and teaches you to view resistance as a challenge—for example, the harder the material, the less force you should apply to the stone.”
- The stone challenges you to explore your own (working) attitude toward yourself and the material.
- Together with the stone, you can explore creative and personal processes and
transfer them to your personal and professional life.

These exciting experiences are fostered as you work on your own sculpture and through group discussions. Experienced stone sculptor and workshop leader Birgit Cauer guides you on your journey exploring stone and being through instructions, dialogue, and inspiration. This also includes technique, design, work ethic, and knowledge of tools and materials.

The idyllic garden of the Neues Atelierhaus Panzerhalle and the opportunity to connect with like-minded people provide the setting for focused relaxation. We work outdoors among gnarled pine trees and green meadows. In case of rain, tents will be provided. The nearby lakes Sacrow and Groß Glienicke invite you to take a swim afterward.

Please bring: safety goggles, gloves, work shoes, sunscreen, and lunch
