“There is a voice that uses no words. Listen to it.”
— Rumi
What does happiness mean to you?
Is happiness a big moment? A feeling? A state of being? Or perhaps something very subtle that sometimes gets lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life?
Maybe happiness isn’t as far away as we sometimes think. Maybe it lies in a moment when we’re fully present with ourselves. In an image that suddenly expresses something for which we lack the words. In a walk through nature. In an honest conversation. In a laugh. In a memory. In the freedom to not have to achieve anything for once.
Or in the feeling: I AM EXACTLY WHERE I’M SUPPOSED TO BE.
Our Happiness Retreat invites you to explore these questions and embark on a deeply personal journey of self-discovery.
A JOURNEY TO OURSELVES.
We live in a world where everything has to move quickly. We function. We organize. We take care of things. We plan. We meet expectations. And sometimes we don’t realize until it’s too late that, in the process, we’ve lost touch with ourselves a little.
The Happiness Retreat offers you five days during which you can step away from this everyday life. Five days during which you don’t have to just “function.” Five days during which you’re allowed to listen to yourself again. What actually makes me happy? What do I really need? What’s good for me? What is it that I haven’t done in a long time? What makes me feel alive? And where in my life do I want to make a change?
Happiness Begins with Awareness
Perhaps happiness doesn’t begin by changing everything. Perhaps it begins by becoming aware of what’s already there. We turn our gaze inward and examine our personal life issues. It’s not about finding quick answers. Rather, we want to cultivate curiosity—about ourselves. Toward our story. Toward our wishes. Toward our needs. Toward our longings. And also toward the parts of ourselves that we might prefer to overlook in everyday life.
MAYBE HAPPINESS IS ALREADY WAITING
Maybe you don’t even have to start a whole new life to find happiness. Maybe it doesn’t require any big decisions. Maybe the first step is much smaller. A moment of pause. A moment of listening. A moment of awareness. A “no” to something that isn’t good for you. A “yes” to something you’ve been missing. A picture. A conversation. A walk. An idea. A wish. Or simply five days during which you make yourself a little more of a priority again.

My clients usually find their own accommodations in the surrounding area. This is simply because everyone has different preferences. Some would like their own apartment, while others might just want a simple room. Both options are available in the immediate vicinity.
But perhaps you’d prefer a complete package for your retreat? Our healing retreat also offers guest rooms. If available, you’re welcome to stay with us. The guest rooms are located in the adjacent building. They have their own entrance and access to the garden. You’ll share the kitchen and bathroom with your roommates. Please feel free to talk to me about this.
Meals are not included, as everyone’s needs vary greatly. You decide for yourself what’s best for you. Generally, you can prepare your own meals at your lodging—either you have your own kitchen or at least cooking facilities, or there are options that include breakfast or even an on-site restaurant. In Daun, there are large supermarkets, bars, and restaurants.
Creativity as a Path to Ourselves
An important part of the retreat is creative work. We use a variety of materials and methods from art therapy. We paint, draw, create, experiment, write, and let images emerge. Sometimes there’s a specific prompt. Sometimes it’s a task. And sometimes there are simply materials and space.
You’re free to experiment.
You’re free to be curious.
You’re free to let something emerge without knowing in advance what it will become.
Because creativity doesn’t have to be perfect. It doesn’t have to be beautiful. It doesn’t have to represent anything. It can simply be an expression. Sometimes colors can convey something we can’t put into words. Sometimes a memory surfaces in an image. Sometimes we discover something that surprises us.
And sometimes it’s simply joyful to work with your hands and let your mind wander for a while.
A break that stays with you...
Perhaps you’ll go home after five days with pictures. Perhaps with new ideas. Maybe with a list of things you’d like to change. Maybe with a very specific decision. Maybe with new encounters.
Or maybe simply with a feeling. A feeling of:
Something inside me has come alive again. And maybe you’ll take that feeling home with you...
On your own. If you’d like to explore the area a bit outside of the retreat program or head to more distant starting points for hikes or walks, we recommend traveling by car.
Traveling by train: The Gerolstein train station is 14 km away from us. From there, you can reach us by bus (advance reservation by phone required) or by taxi. If the timing works out, we can also arrange a pickup.
