Summary

Start and let the image guide and surprise you.

This leads to the exciting creation of images that are NEW, and thus creates space for creativity, malleable effects, and truly new solutions.
Through guidance, the processes, sudden breaks, and entirely new possibilities are brought to consciousness, so that genuine choices emerge. The interventions lead the painters beyond their learned boundaries.

We do not work with interpretations, illustrations, symbols, or meanings. We create images whose meaning can unfold to us in many ways as we paint and engage with the image.
This painting process requires guidance,
since as painters we often overlook or initially reject new things, avoid what frightens us, and tend to stick to familiar paths. As a painting facilitator, I accompany the process in a supportive, clarifying, confrontational, and compassionate manner and take care of the images.
Based on Gestalt therapy, the images are clarified through painting, not explained through talking. The “birth of the image” is what matters, not a conversation afterward.

We always start with a brief round of introductions to get to know each other. You don’t need to have any specific issues to participate in Guided Painting. All you need is curiosity about something new.

In Guided Painting, we always work individually with your process.
In the studio, there are guidelines that support the process:

- This way, I support the painters in organizing things/images rather than destroying them out of dissatisfaction.
- To ensure that all painters can fully experience and go through their processes, it is helpful not to discuss the paintings of other painters.
- And so that I, as the painting facilitator, can stay in close contact with the processes and the painters, I hang and take down the paintings. We look at them together to see if a painting is finished or if and what else can be done.
- Guided painting also involves me, as the painting facilitator, participating in the painting process in a supportive, clarifying, compassionate, and confrontational manner
- I ensure that everyone can paint with as little disturbance as possible—for example, by making sure all cell phones are turned off (exceptions will be discussed)
