You’ll effortlessly tap into your creative flow, step off the daily grind, and simply enjoy the process of creating. On this drawing and painting journey, you’ll learn to immerse yourself and focus on your artwork. You’ll also learn to work on a large scale, a small scale, and in new ways—drawing from nature as well as freely from your imagination. Marina Buening, an experienced art instructor at various universities, will be there to support you with advice, tasks, inspiration, and valuable knowledge.
The focus of this art journey is on drawing and painting: learning to draw, mastering drawing techniques, and working with color in your drawings. We’ll also paint with watercolors and acrylics.
We will explore specific drawing techniques such as sketching from nature, but we will also frequently draw and paint very freely and integrate both approaches. Thanks to the small group size, you will be guided through your very personal process so that you can find your artistic expression, step outside your comfort zone, and discover your personal style and preferences.
The former monastery of Sant'Andrea in Collevecchio, where the course is held—with its old cells converted into single or double rooms, a shared dining hall, a charming, shaded courtyard, an outdoor terrace, and a large chapel that now serves as a classroom or studio—is truly something special! It is nestled in a hilly landscape with wonderful views of the Tiber Valley, olive groves, and the village.
