Simple single rooms with shower/toilet in the monastery’s gatehouse, featuring a beautiful Baroque garden and medicinal herb garden. An ideal place to paint and sketch outdoors. We’ll be using the Anna Chapel as our studio—a modern, unchained chapel that provides plenty of space and light for intensive work. The Baroque monastery garden was reconstructed from 2010 to 2011 based on old drawings. The clear layout of the paths, the understated planting, and the central fountain reflect the Cistercian pursuit of simplicity. With its many benches, the grounds invite you to paint, draw, relax, and enjoy the outdoors.

At the Marienstatter Brauhaus, located right next to the monastery, you can enjoy freshly tapped, house-brewed beer and hearty regional dishes.
Every day, we’ll do some short exercises and cover a bit of theory on portraiture, perspective, composition, and color. You’ll work on your own ideas, reference materials, and concepts, and I’ll provide individual guidance on all artistic questions. All techniques are welcome; please bring your own materials. Beginners are warmly welcome.
As a graphic designer, instructor, and coach, I teach people of all ages—in groups ranging from 5 to 25 participants—in the field of creative work. As an artist, I work on commissioned pieces, respond to calls for submissions, and participate in exhibitions.
