DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT A SHEPHERD’S RETREAT IS?
SHEPHERD’S RETREAT.
A stay in the high mountains. Stripped down to the essentials.
LIFE ON SITE.
Eating together. Walking together. Sleeping in the high mountains. Among the animals. In all kinds of weather.
The alternative.
Everyday life out there is quiet.
No nonstop rush. No constant availability.
Being calm is not a weakness. It is a choice.
Pausing.
The journey into the mountains is part of it. Pausing becomes action. A dialogue with oneself. Perhaps that is precisely the most productive state.
PHILOSOPHY.
Why does the shepherd’s life seem like an alternative today? Perhaps because here, contentment isn’t sought—it simply arises. Shepherds live long lives. That’s no coincidence.
Nature sets the pace.
Rhythm instead of a clock.
Mountains. Wind. Sun. Peace.
Alpacas, llamas, dogs. Not just a backdrop. Everyday life.
Thoughts & Impact.
Ideas have no schedule. They come when there’s no pressure. When there’s space. Connections become visible that disappear amid the noise.
THE LOCATION?
The Tyrolean mountains. The tri-border region.
1,500 to 3,000 meters.
An environment that asks for nothing.
And that’s exactly why it sparks something.
WHO ARE WE?
Pace and performance.
International product design. Entrepreneurship.
We know what it’s like to be “always on.”
And we know the moment that follows.
Work reimagined.
Work isn’t just action.
Work is also: silence. Breathing. Waiting.
Animals slow us down.
And bring clarity.

Ein Hof in den Alpen.
Zwischen Serfaus und Fiss in den tiroler Alpen
Auf 1.300 Metern Höhe.
Stein. Holz. Luft.
Alpakas bewegen sich durch die Landschaft.
Langsam. Gleichmäßig. Ohne Zielhärte.

Nur Alltag, der offen liegt.
Wandern beginnt direkt am Hof.
Schritt für Schritt in die Weite.
Dazwischen: Stall. Handwerk. Wolle.
Kein Programm.
Nur Struktur aus Natur und Zeit.
We source most of our food from local farmers. It doesn’t get much healthier than this. We’re happy to accommodate special requests. We raise our own chickens and grow our own vegetables. The butter comes from a neighboring farm. The meat is organic. But we can already say that everything is authentic and completely natural.

Body, Mind & STRESS.
Working out activates the body and relieves the mind. Exercise combats stress and sadness. Physical activity grounds us. It brings people back to themselves.
A comparison of everyday life.
On average, people sit for 613 minutes a day. A shepherd stands. Or walks.
Why shepherds are considered happy.
Closeness to nature. Simplicity. Repetition. Freedom. Purpose. Responsibility. Community. Movement. A life that doesn’t need to be optimized. Working with animals changes your perspective. It brings calm. Patience. Clarity. A different pace. A different sense of presence.
Who We Are.
We come from a world of performance and speed.
International product design. Entrepreneurship.
Many places. Lots of movement. Little rest.
Our Path.
For 12 years, as career changers, we’ve been living in tune with nature’s rhythm—as herders and as designers. Not as an escape, but as a choice.
The Idea
That’s how the Herder’s Retreat came to be—a space that makes accessible what’s often lost in everyday life.
The animals.
Alpacas and llamas are calm. And alert.
They don’t discriminate. Not by status. Not by condition. Everyone is treated equally.
What remains.
That was one of the most formative lessons of our lives. And that is exactly what we pass on.
Invitation.
4 days. 4 nights. Time to experience how things can be different.
“In a world that always wants more,
contentment is the true rebellion.”
