Snow-covered forests, crisp winter air, and the tranquility of the Kalkalpen National Park provide the setting for this Feldenkrais® retreat at Villa Sonnwend. How steady are you on one leg? When was the last time you consciously jumped or balanced yourself? This program with Feldenkrais expert Gertrud Brunner brings you back to this very question—and to the strength that lies within a balanced body.

At Villa Sonnwend, special emphasis is placed on balanced and varied cuisine. Seasonal ingredients take center stage in the menu planning, and the products are primarily sourced from the region. You’ll treat your taste buds to the breakfast and dinner buffets, which always include vegetarian options.
Feldenkrais® is a body-oriented learning method, named after the physicist Moshé Feldenkrais, that uses mindful sensory movements to engage the nervous system, enabling people to consciously perceive and change their habitual movement patterns.
This program is specifically designed for people who use their bodies with finesse and precision on a daily basis: musicians, artisans, athletes, and anyone interested in the body-oriented Feldenkrais Method.
Led by Gertrud Brunner, who has been working as a Feldenkrais® practitioner for over 30 years and serves as an assistant trainer for international Feldenkrais® training programs, you’ll experience a program focused on balance and the conscious use of your body’s center.
The subtle approach of the Feldenkrais® Method often changes patterns that have become ingrained over decades. Sensory-motor learning alters the brain not only in its function but also in its structure. The more rounded and fluid a movement becomes, the more supple and pleasant it feels. Such new movement experiences promote the connection of nerve cells through synaptic wiring, thereby enhancing overall brain performance—an approach that is particularly significant for musicians, whose playing relies on the finest neuromuscular coordination.
Villa Sonnwend is nestled in the winter landscape of the Kalkalpen National Park. Snow-covered hiking trails starting right from the house, crisp mountain air, and the tranquility of the cold season provide a counterpoint to the seminar—a space to let your newly found balance take effect.
What you’ll take away from the Feldenkrais retreat:
- A newly achieved sense of balance
- Greater strength and presence emanating from your body’s center
- Refined movement coordination for playing an instrument, practicing a craft, or participating in sports
- Strengthened trust in your own body
