The Open Sky House dark retreat offers a unique and intense experience of self-discovery and inner reflection. In the seclusion of our retreat cellar, you can experience a deep sense of calm reminiscent of the monastic retreats of monks and nuns. This specially designed room is equipped with everything you need for a period of contemplation and meditation, including a comfortable bed, a chair, a back jack, a meditation cushion, a yoga mat, and your own meditation area with a table and toilet.
In the dark retreat, you will be guided on a journey that frees you from external distractions and allows you to connect with your inner essence. This deep connection to yourself is facilitated by darkness, which has been used for millennia in various cultures as a means of spiritual exploration. Retreating into darkness helps you explore your thoughts and feelings, gain deep insights, and explore the innermost layers of your self.
Participants report intense, often challenging experiences that lead to a clearer mind, deeper self-understanding, and an overwhelming sense of peace and love that can only be experienced in the silence and seclusion of this unique space. Daily support through meditation and guidance from experienced facilitators ensure that each participant emerges from this experience strengthened and with new perspectives. "In the embrace of darkness, we can find the light of our true nature."
– John David "Let come what comes, let go what goes, see what remains" – Sri Ramana Maharshi "You can call it silence, emptiness, the self, or even God, but wherever we go when we are simply still, overwhelming love flows like a spring from the mountains." – John David
