Handpan retreat for beginners – September 2026

In September, we're heading to the Glemmtal valley: 4 days of handpan, yoga, and meditation at brandgut – a lovingly renovated and run hotel in a secluded location in the mountains. A handpan beginner's course surrounded by picturesque nature. Immerse yourself in the magic of this special instrument. Through mindful playing, inspiring exercises, a proven learning concept, and plenty of time for yourself, you will have the perfect environment to take your first steps with a new instrument. This is also the perfect setting if you still have lots of questions and would like to try out different handpans before buying your first one. ~~ What makes this event special ~~

~~ Further information ~~ This workshop is based on the D-Kurd. Please bring a D-Kurd 440Hz or rent one. If you do not have your own handpan in D-Kurd tuning, you can rent one for the duration of the workshop, which you can then purchase at a discounted workshop price.

~~ No prior knowledge is necessary ~~ You will be introduced to the instrument and how to play it step by step. This workshop is ideal for anyone who has no experience with the handpan or who started playing just a few months ago. We will cover the basics of the Malte Marten Method and teach you the tools for free playing. No prior yoga experience is necessary for Alex's yoga classes either. Alex combines classic yoga classes with dynamic influences from Animal Flow to bring a playful aspect to the yoga practice. Get excited! ~~ Price ~~ The price consists of i) the course fee, ii) your choice of room, and iii) an optional rental fee for a handpan. The price ranges from 925 to 1,185 euros. When making your booking request, please indicate your desired room category (double or single room) and whether you need a handpan rental, and you will receive a quote with the applicable price.

~~ Things to know ~~ – After booking, you will receive two invoices. The amount for the accommodation is paid directly to the accommodation provider. – The statutory local tax for the nights spent at the hotel is payable on site. You can pay this easily upon arrival directly to the accommodation provider.
– You can travel from Salzburg by public transport free of charge and you will also receive the Viehhofen Summer Card.
