Frequently asked questions
What is a Handpan retreat?
A Handpan retreat combines learning and playing the Handpan – a fascinating, melodic percussion instrument – with a mindful break from everyday life. In a relaxed atmosphere, you immerse yourself in the world of sound, learn playing techniques, rhythms, and melodies while finding deep relaxation. Many retreats combine Handpan playing with meditation, yoga, or nature experiences. We currently offer 4 Handpan retreats.
Do I need any prior experience to join a Handpan retreat?
No, usually no musical experience is required. Most Handpan retreats are explicitly designed for beginners as well and guide you step by step in learning the instrument. The Handpan is intuitive to play and produces beautiful sounds after just a short time. Some retreats also offer courses for advanced players – simply check the description of each listing for details.
Do I need to bring my own Handpan?
In most cases, no. Most retreat organizers provide Handpans for the duration of the retreat, so you don't need your own instrument. If you already own a Handpan, you're of course welcome to bring it along. You'll find specific details in each retreat description, or you can ask the provider directly.
