Summary

We are staying in the beautiful Klappholt Valley in the north of the island of Sylt, on the edge of the nature reserve, where seals and seagulls bid each other goodnight. Far away from the hustle and bustle and luxury, we stay in simple, comfortably furnished single, double, and multi-bed houses scattered throughout the academy’s own dune area.
The wonderful salty sea air is ideal for practicing yoga and pranayama (breathing exercises). Christine and Simin guide you through the day with gentle yet energizing asanas (yoga sequences) and mindfulness exercises, allowing you to experience a deep and cleansing effect on both body and mind. Through meditation, guided relaxation journeys, and walks along the beach, you can leave everyday life behind and fully reconnect with yourself. We begin the day with dynamic yoga sequences suitable for everyone and conclude it with deeply relaxing Yin Yoga, guided imagery, and mantra chanting. Weather permitting, we will also perform the exercises on the beach. On two days, we’ll hike along the coast and let the wind and salty air blow around our noses.

Accommodation

We stay in cozy single or double cabins or rooms. Not all cabins have an en-suite bathroom. Single room: €82.00 per person per day, including full board (early season: March 15–May 31, 2027); Double room: €72 per person per day (as of February 2026)
Car parking fee: €2 per day. Plus applicable visitor’s tax. The yoga fee of €750 must be transferred approximately 4 weeks in advance; the accommodation and full-board fees must be transferred to Klappholttal no later than 3 weeks before the seminar begins.

This retreat is certified, and health insurance plans typically cover up to €150.

Catering

At the center of the grounds stands the Uthland House, which houses the dining hall where meals are served. Here, we offer both wholesome vegetarian dishes served buffet-style and mixed meals. Vegan options are also available upon request. Please make arrangements in advance! Meal times are as follows: Breakfast: 7–9 a.m., Lunch: 12–2 p.m., Dinner: 6–8 p.m.

Arrival

Carpooling is an option; otherwise, take the DB train to Westerland, and from there take a bus toward List or a taxi to Klappholttal. If you’re traveling by car, be aware that additional costs will apply for the car ferry, which transports all vehicles across the Hindenburgdamm. (Prices vary widely; please inquire with Sylt-Shuttle.) It is also possible to travel to List by ferry via Römö (Denmark); prices are similar, and departure times can be checked online. The additional travel time from Niebüll is approximately 1 hour, but this route gets you from List to Klappholttal faster.

The teachers made this retreat an experience. The week was full of yoga and a "good spirit". The food was excellent and the accommodation also matched this great week. Simple but with charm. The great weather rounded out the week. It does not get better than this 😊

We will practice gentle yoga in a small, intimate group, along with meditation and mindfulness exercises. Christine and Simin will guide you with loving care, so even as a beginner, you don’t need to worry that the exercises will be too challenging.
The beautiful surroundings of Klappholttal, right by the sea, will inspire you and make the effects of yoga even more tangible. Rediscover a wonderful sense of physical well-being and a light spirit.
