Retreat to the Mountain Retreat Center in the Chiemgau mountains. The Retreat Center has 20 rooms with views of the impressive natural landscape of the Alps. It's easy to be amazed by the beauty that surrounds you. Again and again. Each of our rooms is a special kind of retreat. Small, refined, cozy.
All meals at the Mountain Retreat Center are vegetarian-vegan. The most important meal of the day, at least according to the Chinese, is breakfast. That's why we place particular emphasis on a good, healthy breakfast – always including warm porridge. For lunch, you can enjoy soup, bread, and spreads, and in the evening, you will be treated to a delicious buffet with salad, creative vegetarian-vegan main courses, and dessert. Always fresh and cooked with seasonal ingredients whenever possible. Food intolerances can be accommodated if notified in advance.
We have a natural need for peace and contemplation, and individual strategies to meet this need in our everyday lives. This retreat offers an introduction to the technique of meditation, which aims to develop compassion for all beings and insight into the primordial nature of all phenomena.
Sitting on a cushion, on a yoga mat, or walking in nature, our busy minds can calm down and collect themselves. Part of the day is spent in silence to support this process. We can share our experiences, and selected texts serve as a source of inspiration. The meditation instructions guide our minds further and further into stillness. The exercises on the yoga mat have a balancing effect, and special exercises for opening the hips and spine make it easier to sit on the cushion. Breathing exercises provide us with vitality and train our attention to the subtle details of the breath. Walking in nature is a refreshing meditation connected with the elements.
Arriving by car Take the A8 motorway (from Munich or Salzburg) and exit at Frasdorf, heading towards Aschau. From there, it is a 15-minute drive to Sachrang.
Arriving by train Take the train or bus to Aschau or Prien im Chiemgau. From there, you can either take the bus (few connections) or a taxi to Sachrang. Taxi fare from Aschau to the Mountain Retreat Center is approximately €35. Arriving by plane The nearest airports are Munich or Salzburg: continue by train or bus.
