A quiet week in Siwa, one of Egypt's most remote oases, deep in the Western Desert near the Libyan border, for a small group of up to 9 women. We settle into one place for the whole week a traditional farmhouse in the palm gardens - with time to rest between activities rather than rushing from place to place.
The days are shaped by the oasis itself: swimming in the natural salt lakes, relaxing at the hot sulfur springs, and three hands-on pottery sessions with a local artist. Women from Siwa lead a henna painting and bread-baking workshop, and a traditional craftsman teaches palm-leaf weaving, each session paired with stories about local heritage.
We explore the oasis's history at the mudbrick Shali Fortress and the Oracle of Amun temple once consulted by Alexander the Great, walk up Dakrour Mountain for views across the oasis, and visit a local farm growing dates and olives. A full desert safari brings dunes, hidden springs, a Bedouin dinner, and a night of stargazing through a telescope with a local guide. Two evenings are spent watching the sunset from a small lake island, and one evening features traditional Siwan music.
The week closes with a visit to the local market for dates, olives, salt, and handicrafts before the journey back to Cairo.

Traditional farmhouse in the palm gardens of Siwa, reserved exclusively for our group. The house has 7 rooms – 3 twin rooms with two single beds and 4 single rooms, all overlooking the palm gardens. Some rooms are built from traditional mud brick, others are tent-style rooms, so each room is slightly different. The 7 rooms share 3 bathrooms. It is a simple, traditional farm stay rather than a hotel, which brings the week close to real oasis life.
All meals are prepared with local, seasonal ingredients from the oasis dates, olives, vegetables and bread baked fresh during the bread baking workshop. Breakfast and dinner are served daily at the farmhouse, with one lunch included on day 3 and a Bedouin dinner served under the open sky in the desert on day 4.
