Argentine Tango for Beginners in Umbria

"Villa La Rogaia" is a family-run agriturismo (country house) nestled in the countryside, in the hills above Lake Trasimeno in Umbria. Guests stay in small apartments with a bathroom and kitchen.

All accommodations have been furnished with great attention to detail and feature sculptures and paintings by the artist Wolfgang Sandt.

The house is surrounded by a spacious garden with a pool; everywhere you look, you’ll find dreamy nooks with sculptures and cozy little seating areas from which the view sweeps over olive groves, vineyards, lavender fields, and meadows.

During the weeks of our group courses (see the individual course descriptions for details), we offer breakfast and dinner.

The breakfast buffet, featuring a selection of sweet and savory items, is served from 9 to 10 a.m., and dinner is served at 8 p.m. The kitchen is closed between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

For lunch, you can buy groceries at a small supermarket in Castel Rigone. There are also 2 restaurants and 2 bars in Castel Rigone and the surrounding area.

Please note that La Rogaia is an agriturismo, not a restaurant. This means there is no à la carte menu; instead, our cook prepares a set meal for everyone, just as an Italian “mamma” in the countryside would.

To put it simply: You’ll eat whatever “Mamma” serves.

At La Rogaia, you can choose before your stay whether you’d like vegetarian or non-vegetarian meals. During your stay, it is no longer possible to change your meal selection on a daily basis or even at the last minute before dinner.

Typically, there is a vegetarian meal for everyone at least once a week and a fish-based meal once a week (in which case, of course, a purely vegetarian option is also available).

Please understand that we naturally offer cuisine typical of Umbria and cannot tailor it to every preference, aversion, or even minor food intolerances.

If you do not like typical Italian food or, for example, do not eat pasta, La Rogaia is probably not the right vacation spot for you.

At Villa La Rogaia, we offer two ways to learn tango.

You can either take a group class from our tango course schedule or book private tango lessons (the latter subject to prior arrangement and availability).

You can find the dates and descriptions (including course fees) for the group classes on our website under “Tango.”
You’ll usually need a dance partner for these classes.
If you’d like to sign up on your own, we’ll need to find a suitable dance partner for you first.

For private tango lessons, you don’t need a partner. You simply rent a vacation apartment and book the lessons along with it.

We do not provide meals for private tango lessons. You’ll need to take care of your own meals.
The kitchens in our vacation apartments are fully equipped for this purpose.

You can also organize a private tango course with your own group (family, friends, acquaintances).
Please ask us about availability for your desired dates.

Private tango lessons are available by arrangement from April through August 2026.

During your stay at Villa La Rogaia, you can book individual trial lessons (EUR 77 per person for 1.5 hours) or a weekly package of 10 lessons, each lasting 1.5 hours (for EUR 670 per person).

This course is designed for individual dancers or couples who want to learn the basics of Argentine tango while on vacation.

In private tango lessons, you won’t just learn pre-set figures and step sequences—you’ll develop the ability to quickly recognize the structure of the tango and its various elements.

You’ll discover how your body can work for you in a simple way, making tango dancing effortless.

This will quickly give you the ability to dance with many different partners.

The result is a concept for a playful “dialogue between dancers” in which there are no “wrong steps.”

And that means stress-free tango dancing and enjoyment right from the start!

When scheduling your private tango lessons, it’s helpful to check our course calendar (on our website under “Courses”) beforehand to see if our studio is already booked for another class on your desired date. Private tango lessons are generally not available during those times.

Travel to the property is not included.
We recommend traveling by car. When you make your reservation, we will provide you with detailed directions.

However, you are also welcome to travel by train; we will pick you up at the Passignano sul Trasimeno train station.
