Summary

A ski course with a difference.
Because at Ease on Skis, the focus isn’t on outwardly visible skiing techniques.
Rather, the question is:
Under what conditions can good movement develop on its own? How can we create conditions that foster good technique?
That’s why we don’t start with the legs and feet, but rather where movement originates—in the nervous system, in self-awareness, and in the way the body as a whole finds balance on the skis.

This approach was developed by Erik Bendix, an AmSAT-certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and one of the
few teachers worldwide who are trained in both the Dart Procedures and Body-Mind Centering®. The method teaches movement “from top to bottom” rather than “from bottom to top”: the head, gaze, and
upper body lead the movement, and the legs follow—resulting in skiing that requires less effort,
offers greater precision, and provides noticeably more confidence.

Key components of the program are:
— Alexander Technique: Release of unnecessary muscle tension, conscious organization of the head, neck, and back as
the foundation of balance and coordination.
— Working with fear and the startle reflex: Skiing as a controlled fall—participants learn not to
react to frightening situations with tension, which reduces falls and loss of control.
— Individualized guidance in small groups—each participant is met at their
or he is at that moment.
— Integration of theory and practice: Principles are first explored indoors during individual lessons and
then experienced and reinforced directly on the slopes the next day.
— Compatibility with traditional ski instruction: We are familiar with classic elements such as leaning the torso forward,
weight transfer, parallel turns, carving (etc.) are familiar to us—we explore, from the Alexander
Technique perspective, how these movements can arise effortlessly rather than through force and exertion.
