How much does a yoga retreat in Mallorca cost?
Prices for a yoga retreat in Mallorca typically sit between 900 and 2,400 euros per person for a seven-day stay with full board, including two practice sessions a day and accommodation. The biggest lever is the room type: shared and double rooms tend to be at the lower end of the range, while single rooms with sea views in the Tramuntana or a renovated finca inland sit at the upper end. Season also matters — the weeks around Easter, in May and in October are the most expensive, while early March and late November are often noticeably cheaper.
Flights, airport transfer (50 to 90 euros each way, depending on which side of the island you stay), massages, excursions and drinks outside meals are usually not included. Plan for another 200 to 400 euros on top, depending on how you travel.
When is the best time of year to visit Mallorca for a yoga retreat?
The two main windows are spring (mid-March to early June) and autumn (mid-September to early November). During these months daytime temperatures usually sit between eighteen and twenty-eight degrees, the island is not crowded, and the light is ideal for outdoor practice. If you want warmer sea water, May to June or September are the best choices.
Midsummer (July and August) can be too hot for an intensive practice, with higher prices and full houses on top. Summer stays work best at higher elevations in the Tramuntana. From November to February some houses run quieter winter retreats focused on yin, restorative and breath work, at daytime temperatures of twelve to sixteen degrees and an almost empty island.
Which yoga styles are most common in Mallorca?
Mallorca offers roughly three directions of practice. In the Tramuntana mountains and the north-west, stronger styles dominate — classic hatha, vinyasa flow, Ashtanga Mysore and power yoga. These houses often combine hiking with asana practice and attract a crowd looking for physical intensity.
In the east and south, the focus tends to fall on softer and regenerative forms: yin yoga, restorative, slow vinyasa and meditation, often with added pranayama, sound work and sometimes yoga nidra. Inland, many houses practise a calm, traditional hatha style combined with longer meditation blocks and silent phases. The range is wide enough that both beginners and experienced practitioners will find a fitting format.
What is the easiest way to get to Mallorca?
The simplest route is to fly into Palma de Mallorca (PMI). Direct flights leave from Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Cologne, Zurich, Vienna and many other cities. Pure flight time is two to two and a half hours. Outside high season you can often find tickets under 150 euros; in high season expect 200 to 400 euros.
Most retreat houses offer either a private transfer or a shared shuttle from the airport. Renting a car on your own is worth it if you want to stay on the island for a few extra days after the retreat. For the retreat itself a car is not strictly necessary — many houses include excursions and beach visits in the programme.
Are yoga retreats in Mallorca suitable for beginners?
Yes — most retreats on Mallorca are explicitly open to beginners and people returning to practice. Teachers usually offer sequences in two or three levels, so within the same class you can use variations that match your current level. Especially in the south and inland, you will find quieter houses that put regenerative practice and soft hatha at the centre — an ideal place to start.
The one caveat: check briefly with the house before booking. Some retreats in the Tramuntana are designed for advanced yogis (Ashtanga Mysore weeks, for example), and starting from zero in that context can be frustrating. A quick look at the programme description or a short email solves it in two minutes.
What is usually included in the price of a yoga retreat in Mallorca?
Most prices include accommodation, all yoga and meditation sessions, and full board — breakfast, lunch and dinner, often vegetarian or vegan and based on seasonal, regional produce. Many houses also include tea, water, fruit snacks and the use of pool, garden and practice space.
Flights, airport transfers, massages, spa treatments, excursions and alcoholic drinks are generally not included. Some houses offer optional extras such as coaching, body work or sound healing, usually booked and paid for on site. Before booking, check whether bed linen, towels and a yoga mat are provided — most houses do, but not all.
Which region of Mallorca is right for me?
Region matters more than house when it comes to the character of your retreat. If you want to be physically challenged, the Tramuntana mountains in the north-west are the best fit: cooler climate, long hikes, stronger practice, mountain views. Houses around Sóller, Deià, Valldemossa and Esporles serve exactly this profile.
If beach, sun and a more regenerative tone matter more to you, choose the south or east — around Santanyí, Es Trenc, Cala Ratjada or Artà. Distances to the sea are short, the practice is often softer, and sunsets become part of the rhythm.
For silence, inner work and an almost monastic daily rhythm, the interior of the island is the best choice: Sineu, Petra, Llubí, Algaida and the surrounding plains. Little tourism, wide fields, old fincas — ideal for meditation, breath work and longer silent phases.
