Is a yoga teacher training recognised by German health insurers?
What gets recognised is not the training itself but the prevention course you later teach. The authority is the Zentrale Prüfstelle Prävention. It requires a yoga teacher training of at least 480 clock hours spread over at least two years. On top of that you need either a state-recognised vocational or university qualification in a health or social field, or – if you do not have one – 200 documented clock hours of teaching experience, which you can only start accruing after graduating. The compact trainings and continuing-education courses listed here do not reach those 480 hours; they are designed as deep dives and specialisations, not as a route to insurer recognition. If recognition is your goal, look specifically for a two-year training and get the hour count confirmed in writing.
Are there online yoga teacher trainings?
Online trainings exist on the market, but you will not find them here. Every training and continuing-education course in this overview is an on-site format in one place, usually across several consecutive days. There is a practical reason: you learn alignment and hands-on adjustments on other people's bodies, and practice teaching depends on someone being in the room to tell you directly what lands. What works well online is theory – anatomy, philosophy, sequencing. Many paths therefore combine the two: theory by distance learning, practice in on-site blocks. If you are considering a purely online training, pay particular attention to how practice teaching is assessed and whether the hours count towards later insurer recognition.
Do I need prior experience for a yoga teacher training?

What do 200h and 300h mean in a yoga teacher training?
The hour labels come from Yoga Alliance, a US registry that many schools join voluntarily. A 200-hour training is the entry level; afterwards you can register as an RYT 200, and no teaching experience is required for it. An RYT 300 does not exist, even though the term comes up often: the 300 hours are an advanced training that builds on the 200. Together they make up RYT 500, which additionally requires 100 documented hours of your own teaching.
